MEN’S TENNIS RECORDS FIRST WIN OF THE SEASON, 7-2, OVER HAMILTON

Syracuse, N.Y. - The Le Moyne College men's tennis team earned its first win of the season on Thursday afternoon with a 7-2 victory over Hamilton College at the Skytop Tennis Courts.

The Dolphins took a 2-1 lead through the doubles competition. At the first spot, senior James Gayvert (Fairport, N.Y./Fairport) and junior Hallam Doney (Andover, Hampshire/ Peter Symonds) combined for an 8-3 win over Sam Farber and Max McKee-Proctor. Senior Steven Procopio (Jamesville, N.Y./Jamesville-DeWitt) and sophomore Tyler Underwood (Minoa, N.Y./East Syracuse-Minoa) also posted an 8-3 win at the third spot against Matt Haas and Burke Paxton. Jon Cohen and Alex Streich picked up Hamilton's first point with a 9-8 (7-4) victory at the second spot against freshman Josh Sagaille (Schenectady, N.Y./Justine Henin Academy (Belgium)) and junior Jason Barton (Lima, Ohio/Shawnee).

In singles action, the Dolphins won the first four spots en route to taking five of the six matches. At the top position, Gayvert registered a 6-0, 6-4 victory over Farber, while Sagaille won the only three-set match of the day, 7-6 (7-4), 2-6, 10-7, at the second spot against Cohen. Doney turned in a 6-3, 6-1 victory at the third spot against McKee-Proctor, while Barton was a 6-3, 6-2 winner over Eyad Nagori at the fourth position. Underwood registered Le Moyne's seventh point with a 6-3, 6-1 win over Jack Vissicchio at the sixth spot. Haas earned Hamilton's second point with a 6-2, 6-1 victory at the fifth position over Procopio.

Le Moyne (1-1) plays its first Northeast-10 Conference match of the year on Sunday against Saint Anselm College at 9:00 a.m. at the Skytop Tennis Courts.
