Waltham, Mass. – Jen Gemma scored 18 points to lead 21st-ranked Bentley University to a 78-54 victory over the Le Moyne College women's basketball team on Saturday afternoon in Northeast-10 Conference at the Dana Center.

Freshman guard McKayla Roberts (North Syracuse, N.Y./Cicero-North Syracuse) led the Dolphins offensively with 14 points, while adding a team-best six rebounds and a pair of assists. Junior forward Nicole Riddick (Albany, N.Y./Colonie/UMass Lowell) registered 12 points off the bench, including 10 in the second half. Junior guard Ellie Leszyk (Horseheads, N.Y./Horseheads) turned in 11 points, four rebounds, three assists and a pair of steals.

Gemma scored nine of her game-high 18 points in the first quarter, while finishing the game with nine rebounds (five in the first quarter) and three assists. Trevena Bennett tallied all 14 of her points in the third quarter, while Victoria Lux recorded 12 points, including eight in the first quarter. Macchi Smith neared a triple-double with 10 rebounds, seven points and a game-high seven assists.

The Falcons scored the first 10 points of the game and 17 of the first 21 over the opening 4:26. Lux tallied eight of the points, Gemma drained back-to-back three-pointers and Lauren Green capped the streak with a three-pointer.

After the Dolphins got within 10 for the second time on a three-pointer by Leszyk, the Falcons pushed their lead to 15 with five straight points.

Le Moyne got within 11 with 1:03 left in the quarter, but Amy McConnell made a lay-up to give the Falcons a 29-16 lead at the end of the period.

After Green and freshman guard Liz Millea (Cooperstown, N.Y./Cooperstown) traded three-pointers in the opening 2:15 of the second quarter, neither team scored for the next 6:14. Roberts then buried a pair of three-pointers around four free throws by Gemma to get the Dolphins with 36-25 at halftime.

Bentley scored the first five points of the third quarter to start to pull away. Gemma made a lay-up and then Bennett converted a three-pointer in transition.

After the teams traded points over four points, with Bentley's lead bouncing between 13 and 17 points, the Falcons answered a Roberts three-pointer with eight straight points to take their first 20-point lead of the afternoon. Monica Viapiano made a lay-up and then Bennett followed with consecutive three-pointers for a 57-35 lead with 3:38 left in the third.

Le Moyne answered with an 8-2 run to get back within 16. Junior forward Courtney Webster (Doylestown, Pa./Central Bucks East) made a lay-up and then Riddick knocked down back-to-back three-pointers.

Bennett converted a jumper with 1:02 left to give the Falcons a 61-43 lead after three quarters.

The Falcons tallied the first seven points of the fourth quarter to put the game away. Lux and Viapiano made lay-ups before Smith recorded a conventional three-point play.
