PACE REGISTERS SWEEP OF VOLLEYBALL, 3-0

Pleasantville, N.Y. – Sydney Lecker recorded a double-double to lead Pace University to a 3-0 win over the Le Moyne College volleyball team in Northeast-10 Conference action on Saturday afternoon at the Goldstein Fitness Center.

The Dolphins began the afternoon with the first six points of the opening set and nine of the first 13. The Setters answered with seven straight points to go up 11-9. After the score was 14-12 Pace, the Dolphins tallied seven of the next eight points to take a 19-5 lead. Pace countered with six consecutive points and 10 of the last 14 to take the first set, 25-23.

Le Moyne scored the first four points of the second set and six of the first eight before the Setters responded with eight straight points around a Le Moyne timeout. After the teams went back and forth, which resulted in an 18-17 Pace lead, the Setters tallied seven of the last 10 points for a 25-20 win.

After the Dolphins scored the first two points of the third set, the Setters tallied five straight and 12 of the next 14 to take a 12-4 lead.         The Dolphins recorded the next seven points to get within a point. After the Dolphins scored back-to-back points to get within 16-14, the Setters scored nine of the next 12 points to close out the match with a 25-17 win.

Senior middle blocker Danica Durdines (Alta Loma, Calif./Los Osos) and junior right side Jessica Miller (Williamsville, N.Y./Williamsville South) led the Dolphins in the loss with seven kills each, while Durdines had a pair of blocks. Freshman Emily Yancone (Rochester, N.Y./Our Lady of Mercy) and senior Kendall Corcoran (Fort Salonga, N.Y./Kings Park) split the setting duties with 17 and 15 assists, respectively. Junior outside hitter Marguerite Dillon (Oswego, N.Y./Oswego) led the Dolphins defensively with 17 digs, while classmate Mikayla Porr (Massapequa, N.Y./Massapequa) posted 14 and sophomore Claire Hiwiller (North Tonawanda, N.Y./Sweet Home) added 11 digs.

Lecker led the Setters with her double-double of 13 kills and 12 digs. Samantha Nidini also registered a double-double with 23 assists and 13 digs, while adding five kills. Claudia Fontanet led Pace defensively with 14 digs, while adding six kills. Haley Kain was the fourth Setter with double-figure digs with 11.

Le Moyne (8-9, 1-5 NE10) completes its non-conference schedule on Sunday at LIU Post at 12:00 p.m.
