VOLLEYBALL FALLS IN NON-CONFERENCE ACTION AT LIU POST, 3-1

Brookville, N.Y. – Rachel Londot registered a double-double to lead LIU Post to a 3-1 victory over the Le Moyne College volleyball team in non-conference action on Sunday afternoon.

The Pioneers (20-3), who won their 11th straight match, took a 1-0 lead in the match with a 25-14 win in the first set after using a 14-3 run midway through the set. LIU Post doubled its lead with a 25-16 victory in the second set, which included an 8-2 run late in the set. Le Moyne jumped out to a 13-5 lead in the third set to stay alive in the match by taking the set, 25-19. After the teams went back and forth in the beginning of the fourth set, the Pioneers put the match away by scoring 12 of the final 14 points for a 25-14 win.
 
Junior right side Jessica Miller (Williamsville, N.Y./Williamsville South) was the only Dolphin to record double-digit kills with 10, while adding three digs. Senior setter Kendall Corcoran (Fort Salonga, N.Y./Kings Park) tallied her team-best seventh double-double of the season with 19 assists and 10 digs, while freshman Emily Yancone (Rochester, N.Y./Our Lady of Mercy) dished out 17 assists and had two service aces. Junior libero Mikayla Porr (Massapequa, N.Y./Massapequa) led the Dolphins defensively with 23 digs, while sophomore Claire Hiwiller (North Tonawanda, N.Y./Sweet Home) recorded 14 and junior outside hitter Marguerite Dillon (Oswego, N.Y./Oswego) posted 11 digs.

Londot led all players in the match with 19 kills on a .326 hitting percentage and posted 10 digs for her double-double. Setters Kassie Akouri-Tejedor and Gulia Genna also posted double-doubles with Akouri-Tejedor recording 22 assists and 14 digs, while Genna tallied 15 assists and 14 digs. Indira Rojas led the Pioneers on the defensive side with 20 digs.

Le Moyne (8-10), which has lost three straight matches for the first time since September 2015, returns to Northeast-10 Conference action on Friday at home against Saint Anselm College at 5:00 p.m.
