Syracuse, N.Y. – The Le Moyne College volleyball team used a balanced attack en route to a 3-0 victory over Saint Michael's College in Northeast-10 Conference action on Saturday afternoon at Ted Grant Court.
The Dolphins jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the match with a 25-12 victory in the first set, which included scoring 11 of the first 13 points and seven of the last eight. Le Moyne followed with a 25-13 win in the second set, which included jumping out to a 13-2 lead and scoring six of the final eight points. The Dolphins closed out the match with a 25-12 victory in the third set, which included an 18-5 run to open the set.
Juniors
Jessica Miller (Williamsville, N.Y./Williamsville South) and
Anna Hafoka (Hurst, Texas/L.D. Bell) each hit over .316 and landed nine kills to lead five Dolphins with at least six kills. Sophomore middle blocker
Jacquelyne Ghindia (Mission Viejo, Calif./Santa Margarita) landed seven kills without committing an error, while posting two blocks and two digs. Freshman setter
Emily Yancone (Rochester, N.Y./Our Lady of Mercy) and senior setter
Kendall Corcoran (Fort Salonga, N.Y./Kings Park) dished out 18 and 17 assists, respectively. Junior outside hitter
Marguerite Dillon (Oswego, N.Y./Oswego) led the Dolphins defensively with 11 digs, while adding six kills. Junior libero
Mikayla Porr (Massapequa, N.Y./Massapequa) and sophomore defensive specialist
Claire Hiwiller (North Tonawanda, N.Y./Sweet Home) each tallied 10 digs.
Megan Priester led the Purple Knights in the loss with five kills and three digs. Setter Gabby Ratte tallied 11 assists, five digs, three kills and two block assists. Libero Julia Colasanti led the Purple Knights defensively with eight digs.
Le Moyne (10-10, 3-5 NE10), which improves to 23-0 all-time against the Purple Knights, returns to action on Wednesday at American International College at 7:00 p.m.
