Springfield, Mass. – Annie Boele and Jana Potic recorded double-doubles to lead American International College to a 3-1 victory over the Le Moyne College volleyball team on Wednesday evening in Northeast-10 Conference action at Butova Gymnasium.
The Dolphins opened the match by rallying from a 24-21 deficit in the first set with the final five points to register a 26-24 victory. American International responded with a 25-22 win in the second set, which included scoring the last two points after the Dolphins rallied to get within one. After the Yellow Jackets jumped out to an 8-2 lead in the third set and the Dolphins rallied back to take a 20-19 lead, AIC closed out the set with the last six points for a 25-20 win and a 2-1 lead in the match.
After the teams traded 5-0 runs to start the fourth set and the Yellow Jackets scored eight of the next 11 points to push out to a 13-8 lead, the Dolphins rattled off nine consecutive points for a 17-13 lead. AIC responded to take a 21-19 lead before the Dolphins answered back to take a 24-23 advantage. The Yellow Jackets closed out the match with three straight points for a 26-24 victory.

Jacquelyne Ghindia (Mission Viejo, Calif./Santa Margarita) registered a career-high 11 blocks, including eight assisted, while adding nine kills. The 11 blocks are tied for the second-most by a Dolphin over the last 15 seasons and are the most since Morgan McDermott '13 recorded 12 on October 7, 2012. Junior right side
Jessica Miller (Williamsville, N.Y./Williamsville South) led the Dolphins offensively with 14 kills, while adding five digs and four blocks. Freshman setter
Emily Yancone (Rochester, N.Y./Our Lady of Mercy) directed the offense with a season-high 28 assists and added a season-high eight digs. Junior outside hitter
Marguerite Dillon (Oswego, N.Y./Oswego) led the Dolphins with 17 digs and posted five kills. Junior libero
Mikayla Porr (Massapequa, N.Y./Massapequa) and sophomore defensive specialist
Claire Hiwiller (North Tonawanda, N.Y./Sweet Home) recorded 16 and 10 digs, respectively.
Boele led the Yellow Jackets with 14 kills and added 15 digs for her double-double, her third against the Dolphins in the last two seasons. Potic, last year's NE10 Rookie of the Year, tallied 13 kills and 12 digs for her double-double. Andrea Dillon was the third Yellow Jacket with double-digit kills with 11 on a .375 hitting percentage. Dolores Kopren, a first team all-conference selection last year, facilitated the American International offense with 45 assists, while adding eight digs. Mercy Rivera, the NE10 Defensive Player of the Year last year, registered a match-high 28 digs, while Ada Guilera Martinez contributed 11 digs and six kills.
Le Moyne (10-11, 3-6 NE10), which fell to the Yellow Jackets in the first round of the NCAA Championships East Regional last year, is back in action on Saturday at Merrimack College at 1:00 p.m.
