Danica Durdines (Alta Loma, Calif./Los Osos) and junior right side
Jessica Miller (Williamsville, N.Y./Williamsville South) each registered 10 kills to lead the Le Moyne College volleyball team to a 3-0 victory over Merrimack College on Saturday afternoon in Northeast-10 Conference action at Hammel Court.
The Warriors jumped out to a 9-6 lead in the first set before the Dolphins scored seven straight points and 16 of the next 21 points en route to a 25-18 win. After the teams went back and forth in the second set, resulting in a 16-15 Le Moyne lead, the Dolphins tallied five straight points and nine of the last 13 points for a 25-19 victory. Following a three-point spurt by the Warriors to take a 12-9 lead in the third set, the Dolphins used an 11-1 run en route to recording a 25-17 win to close out the match.
Durdines hit a season-best .529 en route to her 10 kills, four of which came in the second set and five in the third. She also recorded three digs and three blocks. Miller hit .476 and did not commit an error on her way to her 10 kills, five of which came in the second set, while adding two blocks to finish the match with 11.5 points. Freshman
Emily Yancone (Rochester, N.Y./Our Lady of Mercy) and senior
Kendall Corcoran (Fort Salonga, N.Y./Kings Park) split the setting duties with 21 and 17 assists, respectively, while Yancone added four service aces and four digs and Corcoran posted five digs. Junior outside hitter
Marguerite Dillon (Oswego, N.Y./Oswego) recorded a match-high 14 digs to go along with six kills, while junior libero
Mikayla Porr (Massapequa, N.Y./Massapequa) tallied 12 digs, the sixth of which gave her 1,600 for her career.
Mary Kate McCarroll led the Warriors in the loss with four kills, while adding six digs. Sydney Buran handed out eight assists and Rosie Sperduto posted six assists. Christina Nye led Merrimack defensively with nine digs.
Le Moyne (11-11, 4-6 NE10), which has won four straight matches against the Warriors for the first time in the 26-match series history, returns home to host Bentley University on Friday at 5:00 p.m.
