RIT SWEEPS SWIMMING AND DIVING TEAMS

Syracuse, N.Y. – The Le Moyne College men's swimming and diving team won nine of the 16 events, but fell to the Rochester Institute of Technology, 160.5-139.5 on Saturday afternoon. RIT won 14 of the 16 women's events en route to a 203-95 victory.

On the men's side, senior Travis May (Mount Kisco, N.Y./Fox Lane) led the Dolphins with three victories. He claimed first place in the 200-yard butterfly by almost one second with a time of 1:59.90. He completed the sweep of the butterfly events by winning the 100-yard by over one second in 53.97 seconds. He tallied his third victory of the afternoon by posting a time of 2.02.63 to win the 200-yard IM by over 2.5 seconds.

Senior Andy Raiola (Brooklyn, N.Y./Xavier) was victorious in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:48.32. He later captured the 500-yard freestyle by 0.49 seconds by touching the wall in 4:59.20.

Sophomore Matthew Walton (Queensbury, N.Y./Queensbury) won the 50-yard freestyle by 0.57 seconds by touching the wall in 22.24 seconds. He also was victorious in the 100-yard freestyle by recording a time of 48.62 seconds to win by over 1.5 seconds.

Freshman Austin Richardson (Oswego, N.Y./Oswego) touched the wall first in the 1000-yard freestyle in 10:26.09 for the team's first win of the day.

Sophomore Nicholas Buff (Latham, N.Y./Shaker) captured the 200-yard backstroke by 4.24 seconds with a time of 2:02.90.

Sophomore Michael Dierolf (Pennsburg, Pa./Quakertown) touched the wall first in the 200-yard breaststroke by 3.69 seconds to win with a time of 2:16.49.

For the women, sophomore Haley Decker (Vernon, N.Y./Vernon-Verona-Sherrill) earned Le Moyne's first win of the afternoon by topping the field in the 1000-yard freestyle with a time of 11:12.81.

Senior Kelsey Smith (Binghamton, N.Y./Chenango Valley) edged out her competition in the 200-yard backstroke by just 0.11 seconds to win with a time of 2:15.96.

The Dolphins return to the pool on Saturday against The College of Saint Rose at 1:00 p.m. The meet will be held at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, N.Y.
