Jessica Miller (Williamsville, N.Y./Williamsville South) each hit over .400 to lead the Le Moyne College volleyball team to a 3-0 victory over Stonehill College in Northeast-10 Conference action on Saturday morning.
The Dolphins opened the match with a 25-13 victory in the first set, which included scoring the final nine points. Le Moyne followed with a 25-14 win in the second set, which included seven of the last nine points, for a 2-0 lead in the match. The Dolphins tallied the final three points for a 26-24 victory in the third set to close out the match.
Durdines hit a match-best .412 after landing nine of her 17 swings, including four kills in the third set, while adding a pair of blocks. Miller landed nine kills, including six in the first set, without committing an error en route to a .409 hitting percentage. Miller has recorded 36 kills in Le Moyne's three-match win streak and committed just two errors in 85 attempts. Junior outside hitter
Anna Hafoka (Hurst, Texas/L.D. Bell) was the only Dolphin to record double-digit kills with a match-best 12. Senior setter
Kendall Corcoran (Fort Salonga, N.Y./Kings Park) dished out 20 assists and posted eight digs, while freshman setter
Emily Yancone (Rochester, N.Y./Our Lady of Mercy) handed out 17 assists and tallied seven digs. Junior libero
Mikayla Porr (Massapequa, N.Y./Massapequa) led the Dolphins defensively with 14 digs, while junior outside hitter
Marguerite Dillon (Oswego, N.Y./Oswego) had 11 digs and six kills.
Durdines and Corcoran were honored prior to the match by the Dolphin Athletic Association for their contributions to the program.
The Skyhawks, who hold a one-match lead over the Dolphins in the conference standings for the final NE10 Championships berth with a week left in the regular season, had four players finish with five kills. Rubysummer Lord-Moreland had the highest hitting percentage at .625 en route to her five kills, while Ashley Hitchcock, Sophia Poveda and Allyson Hughes also had five kills. Jessica Givens facilitated the balanced offense with 25 assists, while Claire Manuszak led the Skyhawks defensively with a match-best 20 digs.
Le Moyne (13-11, 6-6 NE10), which has won three straight matches, opens its final weekend of the season on Friday at Franklin Pierce University at 7:00 p.m.
