WOMEN’S BASKETBALL CLOSES OUT 2017 WITH 74-59 WIN AT HOLY FAMILY

Philadelphia, Pa. – Sophomore guard McKayla Roberts (North Syracuse, N.Y./Cicero-North Syracuse) scored 22 points to lead the Le Moyne College women's basketball team to a 74-59 win over Holy Family University in non-conference action on Saturday afternoon at the Campus Center Gymnasium.

Roberts scored 15 of her game-high point total after halftime, while finishing the game with three assists and a pair of steals. Junior guard Madison Purcell (Clifton Park, N.Y./Catholic Central) tallied eight of her 13 points in the opening half, while posting three steals and three assists. Senior forward Nicole Riddick (Albany, N.Y./Colonie/UMass Lowell) turned in 12 points, including nine in the second half, and six rebounds. Senior forward Corinne Poitevien (Bardonia, N.Y./Paramus Catholic (N.J.)) registered a career high-tying 10 rebounds, while scoring eight points.

Elizabeth Radley led the Tigers with 22 points off the bench, including 12 in the second half, while adding a team-high seven rebounds (six offensive) and three steals. Alexis Hofstaedter netted all 10 of her points in the second half and posted five rebounds and four assists.

The Dolphins opened the game with the first five points and 11 of the first 12 over the initial 4:22. Purcell started the game's scoring with a lay-up and added another lay-up in the span.

After Roberts hit a three-pointer and senior forward Joanna Dobrovosky (Skaneateles, N.Y./Skaneateles) gave the Dolphins a 16-3 lead with 4:09 left in the quarter with a jumper, the Tigers scored six of the last eight points in the period to get within 18-9.

Radley scored the first six points of the second quarter with back-to-back three-pointers to get Holy Family within 18-15.

The Dolphins responded with 10 of the last 13 points of the half to take a 28-18 lead into the intermission. Purcell made a pair of shots in the span, while three other Dolphins each converted a shot.

After a jumper by the Tigers started the scoring in the third quarter, the Dolphins rattled off 10 of the next 11 points to take a 17-point lead with 7:10 left in the period. Roberts started the run with a conventional three-point play and Riddick drained a three-pointer in the span, which was capped off by a fast-break lay-up by Purcell.

Radley made a free throw and Jada Smith converted a lay-up to get the Tigers within 14, but the Dolphins responded with an 18-5 run to take their largest lead of the game, 56-29, with 2:29 left in the quarter. Senior guard Ellie Leszyk (Horseheads, N.Y./Horseheads) started the jaunt with a three-pointer and later added two free throws, while Poitevien and Roberts each scored four points in the streak.

Holy Family scored seven of the last nine points of the quarter to get within 58-36 after 30 minutes of play. Radley made two free throws before Hofstaedter drained a three-pointer and made a fast-break lay-up.

After the Dolphins pushed their lead back to 27 (63-36) with 8:04 remaining, the Tigers scored 19 of the next 24 points to get back within 13 with 1:38 to play, but could not get any closer. Radley had nine of the points, while Katie O'Hare scored six points on a pair of three-pointers.

Le Moyne's lead was either 15 or 17 points over the final 1:27 of the contest.

Le Moyne (7-5), which went 4-2 in non-conference action for the second straight year, returns to Northeast-10 Conference play on Wednesday by hosting Bentley University at 5:00 p.m.
