Brian Cox (North Kingstown, R.I./North Kingstown) had a pinch-hit RBI double to lead the Le Moyne College baseball team to a 6-5 come-from-behind win over the University of the Sciences on Saturday at The Krajewski Family Field at Father Judge High School's Ramp Athletic Field Complex. The Dolphins dropped the nightcap of the doubleheader, 1-0, in eight innings.
The Dolphins opened the scoring in the opening game with one run in the first inning without getting a hit. Freshman second baseman
Brian O'Mara (Syracuse, N.Y./Westhill) was hit by a pitch, stole second, took third on a fly out and scored on a throw to first on a strikeout.
The Devils answered with a run in the bottom of the first on one hit. Center fielder T.J. Dezzi drew a walk to start the inning, took second on a wild pitch, moved to third on a sacrifice bunt and scored on a single to center by designated hitter Matt Miniconzi.
USciences took the lead in the fourth with one run on two hits. Catcher Ryan Scholey doubled down the left field line to start the frame and moved to third on a sac bunt. Following an out, Scholey scored on a single by right fielder Justin Skinner.
The Devils extended their lead to 4-1 in the sixth with two runs on three hits. First baseman Pat Hiester walked and advanced to third on a double to left by Scholey. After an out, Hiester scored on a sacrifice fly by shortstop Nick Amicon. Following a single and a Le Moyne pitching change, third baseman Frank D'Alessandro singled to drive in Scholey.
Le Moyne got one run back in the seventh on two hits. Sophomore shortstop/pitcher
Josiah Gray (New Rochelle, N.Y./New Rochelle) doubled to start the frame, moved to third on a groundout and scored on a double by redshirt sophomore third baseman/shortstop

The Devils regained their three-run lead in the bottom of the seventh. Second baseman Adam Reed and Miniconzi singled to open the inning. After an out and a walk to load the bases, left fielder Christian DeLuca lifted a sac fly to center to knock in Reed.
Le Moyne scored four times on six hits and one error in the eighth. Senior catcher
Gabe Levanti (Baldwinsville, N.Y./C.W. Baker/Northeastern) singled with one out and moved to third on a single by sophomore first baseman
Nick Place (Towanda, Pa./Towanda). Sophomore designated hitter/third baseman
Camillo Spinoso (Syracuse, N.Y./Christian Brothers Academy/George Washington) followed with a single to drive in Levanti. Following a single and a walk to load the bases, Walsh singled to knock in Spinoso, while Gray scored on a throwing error by the shortstop. Cox then doubled to drive in junior left fielder
JT Pittman (Ashland, Mass./Ashland/Bridgton Academy) with the go-ahead run.

Alex Kubera (Dunkirk, N.Y./Dunkirk/Niagara C.C.) earned his second win of the season after yielding one run on four hits over two innings out of the bullpen. Gray picked up his third save after retiring all four batters he faced. Levanti and Gray each had three hits, while Spinoso and Walsh had two hits each. Chris Geraci took the loss after giving up three runs in one inning of work.
Following seven scoreless innings in the nightcap, in which the Dolphins advanced a runner to second base three times and the Devils had one runner get to third, USciences won the game in the bottom of the eighth. Reed led off with a single and moved to second on a sacrifice bunt. Following a line out, Skinner singled to right field and Reed was ruled safe at home on an obstruction call at the plate.
Walsh suffered the loss after allowing the run in two-thirds of an inning. Younger brother
Sam Walsh (Syracuse, N.Y./Westhill) retired 17 batters before allowing a hit in the sixth inning, while striking out three. Kris Morgenweck earned the win for USciences after striking out eight over eight innings, while yielding just three hits.
Le Moyne (4-2) and USciences complete their three-game series on Sunday at 11:00 a.m.
