TOP-RANKED MEN’S LACROSSE DEFEATS ROBERTS WESLEYAN, 14-3

Rochester, N.Y. - Junior attackman Justin Kesselring (Fairport, N.Y./Fairport) tallied five points to lead the top-ranked Le Moyne College men's lacrosse team to a 14-3 victory over Roberts Wesleyan College on Wednesday afternoon in non-conference action.

The Redhawks opened the game's scoring just over two and one-half minutes into the contest on an unassisted goal by Cody Menzies.

The Dolphins answered back just seconds later as sophomore midfielder Josh Slowinski (Williamsville, N.Y./Clarence) tallied his fourth goal of the year.

Le Moyne tallied the first three goals of the second quarter. Kesselring gave the Dolphins the lead with 10:13 left in the opening half after taking a pass from sophomore midfielder Dan Entenmann (Auburn, N.Y./Auburn). Sophomore attackman Ryan Cosgrove (Churchville, N.Y./Churchville-Chili) found the back of the net 73 seconds later off a pass from senior midfielder Brian Rogers (Clifton Park, N.Y./Shenendehowa). Kesselring extended the lead to 4-1 43 seconds later.

Roberts Wesleyan pulled within two off the ensuing faceoff on a goal by Zac Sapor.

The Dolphins scored four times in the last 6:43 to take an 8-2 lead into halftime. Slowinski started the run with an unassisted goal. Only 40 seconds later, senior midfielder Alex O'Brien (Hanson, Mass./Boston College High) tallied his third goal of the year. Freshman attackman Sean Emerson (Penn Yan, N.Y./Penn Yan Academy) gave the Dolphins a 7-2 lead with his seventh marker of the campaign off a feed from Entenmann with 1:24 left in the half. Kesselring finished off the half's scoring just before the period ended.

The Redhawks started the scoring in the second half at the 8:58 mark on an unassisted goal by Brady Bermingham.

Le Moyne responded with the final three goals of the quarter. Kesselring pushed the lead back to six with 7:56 left in the period. Two and one-half minutes later, Cosgrove netted his second goal of the day. O'Brien followed with his second goal of the game with 3:42 remaining after collecting a pass from Kesselring.

Rogers put the Dolphins up 12-3 at the 12:21 mark of the fourth quarter off a feed from Cosgrove. He followed with an unassisted goal with 8:43 to play. Senior attackman Cade Kelleher (Binghamton, N.Y./Seton Catholic) finished off the game's scoring with 4:28 left.

Junior goalkeeper Jack Sweeney (Syracuse, N.Y./Westhill/Onondaga C.C.) registered four saves (against two goals) in the first half to earn his third win of the year. Keith Keehn took the loss despite making 18 saves.

Le Moyne (3-0) returns to Northeast-10 Conference action on Friday at Assumption College at 4:00 p.m.
