Syracuse, N.Y. – Ryan Boulter scored five points in overtime to lead eighth-seeded Merrimack College to a 72-68 victory over the 24th-ranked and top-seeded Le Moyne College men's basketball team in the NCAA Division II Championship regional quarterfinals on Saturday evening at Ted Grant Court.
Le Moyne finishes its season with a 22-7 record. The 22 wins are the third-most in a season in the program's history and are the most since the 1995-96 campaign (24).
Senior forward
Stan Buczek (Port Jervis, N.Y./Burke Catholic) registered his fifth career double-double with 17 points and 12 rebounds. Junior forward
Daniel Kaigler (Syracuse, N.Y./Bishop Ludden/Gannon) also tallied 17 points, nine of which he scored in 11 second-half minutes. Freshman forward
Tom Brown (Ellicott City, Md./Centennial) turned in a career-best nine assists and eight rebounds off the bench in 30 minutes of action, his highest total since the first game of the year.
Boulter finished the contest with 20 points and pulled down a team-best nine rebounds. Northeast-10 Conference Rookie of the Year Juvaris Hayes led all scorers in the game with 21 points, while adding seven assists, six rebounds and four steals. Anthony Barry recorded 12 points off the bench, all of which came after halftime.
