THIRD-RANKED WOMEN’S LACROSSE KNOCKS OFF 10TH-RANKED MERCYHURST, 10-7

Erie, Pa. – Four members of the third-ranked Le Moyne College women's lacrosse team each scored two goals to lead the Dolphins to a 10-7 victory over 10th-ranked Mercyhurst University on Sunday afternoon at Tullio Field.

The Lakers started the game's scoring just 1:37 into the contest on a free-position goal by Kristin Anderson.

Senior midfielder Vicki Graveline (Syracuse, N.Y./West Genesee) answered back just 20 seconds later to knot the score at one apiece. Sophomore attacker Bryanna Fazio (Watertown, N.Y./General Brown) gave the Dolphins their first lead with an unassisted tally with 26:46 left in the half.

Janelle Williams responded with a free-position goal with 23:41 left to tie the score for the second and final time.

Le Moyne rattled off the next five goals to take a 7-2 lead into halftime. Junior attacker Jacqueline Pardee (Camillus, N.Y./West Genesee) started the run – and gave the Dolphins the lead for good – by finishing off a pass from sophomore defender Monica Sanna (Pittsford, N.Y./Pittsford) at the 19:49 mark. Pardee pushed the lead to 4-2 with 16:05 left off a feed from Fazio. Following 11 minutes of scoreless action, Pardee fed freshman attacker Sidney Hall (Adams Center, N.Y./South Jefferson) for her second goal of the season. Fazio followed with a free-position goal at the 3:05 mark for a 6-2 advantage. Graveline finished off the scoring in the half only 14 seconds later after collecting the next draw.

Mercyhurst ended its scoring drought of 32:03 at the 21:38 mark of the second half on Carly Zimmerman's fifth goal of the season.

The Dolphins countered with the next two goals to take a six-goal advantage. Freshman attacker Anna Mazurkiewicz (Baldwinsville, N.Y./C.W. Baker) netted her third goal of the campaign at the 20:43 mark for an 8-3 lead.  Almost 12 minutes later, Hall registered an unassisted tally to put the Dolphins up 9-3.

Grace Lawson got the Lakers back within five with an unassisted goal with 6:41 remaining.

Freshman midfielder Nicole Delany (Camillus, N.Y./West Genesee) completed Le Moyne's scoring in the game with a free-position goal with 5:24 to play.

Mercyhurst scored three times over the final 4:47 to cut its deficit in half before the final whistle. Zimmerman started the run with a free-position goal in a two extra-player advantage. In another extra-player advantage, Taylor Izzo finished off a feed from Lacey Netti with 3:32 left to make the score 10-6. Anderson netted the game's final goal with 2:49 remaining on a free-position shot.

Freshman goalkeeper Hannah George (Johnson City, N.Y./Maine-Endwell) earned her third win of the season between the pipes by making five saves, including four in the first half. Gabby Gravino made 11 saves, including seven in the first half, in the loss for the Lakers.

Le Moyne (3-0), which completed its sweep of Mercyhurst, Grand Valley State and LIU Post for the third straight year to open the season, is back in action on Saturday at 13th-ranked Bentley University at 12:00 p.m.
