THIRD-RANKED WOMEN’S LACROSSE TOPS ASSUMPTION, 10-3, BEHIND KNAPP’S FIVE ASSISTS

Worcester, Mass. – Sophomore attacker Maddie Knapp (Watertown, N.Y./South Jefferson) dished out five assists to lead the third-ranked Le Moyne College women's lacrosse team to a 10-3 win over Assumption College on Wednesday afternoon in Northeast-10 Conference action at the Multi-Sport Stadium.
 
The Dolphins tallied the first seven goals of the game, including four goals in the first half.  Junior attacker Jacqueline Pardee (Camillus, N.Y./West Genesee) opened the scoring at the 25:31 mark after taking a pass from Knapp. Senior attacker Alexis Garbarino (Endwell, N.Y./Maine-Endwell) pushed the lead to two six minutes later after collecting a feed from senior midfielder Vicki Graveline (Syracuse, N.Y./West Genesee). Graveline followed with an unassisted tally with 13:18 remaining in the first half. She scored the eventual game-winning goal, and the half's final goal, with 12:01 left in the stanza.

Less than five and one-half minutes into the second half, freshman midfielder Nicole Delany (Camillus, N.Y./West Genesee) tallied her eighth goal of the season from the left edge of the crease off a pass over the crossbar from Knapp. Pardee netted her second goal of the day with 21:46 remaining after receiving a pass from Knapp. Graduate student midfielder Maggie Brown (Cortland, N.Y./Cortland) ended the game-opening run by converting a free-position shot with 19:16 left for a 7-0 lead.

Jenny Bush got Assumption on the scoreboard with 17:25 to play after taking a feed from Quincy Wilkins.

The Dolphins answered with back-to-back goals to take a game-high eight goal lead. Senior midfielder Molly McGuane (Marcellus, N.Y./Marcellus) registered her eighth goal of the campaign with 13:53 left off a pass from Knapp. Just over two minutes later, Pardee tallied her team-best 18th goal of the year after accepting a pass from Knapp.

The Greyhounds responded with a pair of goals in a span of 43 seconds. Erin Gildea converted a free-position shot with 8:32 left and Jen McDonald followed with her fourth goal of the season at the 7:49 mark off a pass from Sarah Reilly.

Graveline finished off the game's scoring with 5:12 to play after taking a feed from Delany.

Freshman goalkeeper Hannah George (Johnson City, N.Y./Maine-Endwell) made nine saves, including five in the first half, to earn her seventh victory of the season between the pipes. Jaclyn Chirco turned away 13 shots, including nine in the first half, in the loss for the Greyhounds.

Le Moyne (7-0, 4-0 NE10), which held an opponent scoreless in a half for the first time this season, returns home to face 19th-ranked Stonehill College on Saturday at 11:00 a.m.
