West Haven, Conn. – David Palmer tossed eight scoreless innings to lead the University of New Haven to a 4-1 win over the Le Moyne College baseball team in Northeast-10 Conference Southwest Division action on Saturday afternoon at Vieira Field.

New Haven scored the only runs it would need in the first inning with two runs on one hit and one Le Moyne error. Chamberlain drew a walk to start the frame and then Walraven reached on a throwing error by the third baseman on a sacrifice bunt attempt. After an out, Perrelli singled to left field to drive in Chamberlain. Following a double steal, Walraven raced home on a wild pitch.

The Chargers doubled their lead in the eighth on three hits. Walraven led off with a single to left field, stole second with one out and then took third on a wild pitch. Following an out, Zagaja singled back to the pitcher to knock in Walraven. Caico then tripled to right field to plate Zagaja.

The Dolphins got on the scoreboard in the ninth, but could not complete its comeback. Sophomore third baseman Camillo Spinoso (Syracuse, N.Y./Christian Brothers Academy/George Washington) and sophomore designated hitter Nick Place (Towanda, Pa./Towanda) drew back-to-back walks to start the inning. Following a pair of outs, sophomore shortstop Josiah Gray (New Rochelle, N.Y./New Rochelle) singled to center field to drive in Spinoso from third.

Senior righty Damian Powers (Williamsville, N.Y./Williamsville South) had his streak of four straight wins snapped after yielding four runs (three earned) over eight innings, while striking out eight. Palmer improved to 6-0 on the season after striking out seven, while allowing just four hits.
 
Le Moyne (25-13, 12-5 NE10, 9-4 SW) and New Haven complete their three-game series with a doubleheader on Sunday beginning at 12:00 p.m.
