FOURTH-RANKED MEN’S LACROSSE CLOSES OUT REGULAR SEASON WITH 12-8 WIN OVER BENTLEY

Syracuse, N.Y. – Attackmen Justin Kesselring (Fairport, N.Y./Fairport) and Matt Hutchings (Marcellus, N.Y./Marcellus) each recorded four points to lead the fourth-ranked Le Moyne College men's lacrosse team to a 12-8 victory over Bentley University in the regular season finale for both teams on Saturday afternoon at Ted Grant Field.

The Dolphins finish the regular season at 9-2 in the Northeast-10 and will be the second seed in next week's Northeast-10 Conference Championship. The Dolphins will host a semifinal game on Friday at 11:00 a.m. against the winner of the first round matchup between third-seeded Merrimack College and sixth-seeded Southern New Hampshire University.

Le Moyne scored the only two goals in the first quarter. Kesselring netted the game's first goal off a pass from Hutchings in an extra-man situation with 9:57 left in the quarter. Hutchings then tallied his ninth goal of the year with 8:29 remaining off a transition feed from freshman attackman Riley Larson (Fairfield, Conn./Ludlowe).

The teams alternated goals in the second quarter. Bentley got on the scoreboard for the first time seven minutes into the second quarter on Sam Hurley's 23rd goal of the year. Sophomore midfielder Josh Slowinski (Williamsville, N.Y./Clarence) answered with his 10th marker of the campaign with 4:16 before halftime. John Wheeler responded with his 22nd goal of the year with 3:39 remaining off a feed from Gerard Lacerte. Junior midfielder Tom Koster (Cicero, N.Y./Cicero-North Syracuse/Onondaga C.C.) put the Dolphins back up by two with his 13th goal of the season with 1:44 to go. Wheeler followed 25 seconds later off a feed from Will Macaluso in an extra-man opportunity.

The Dolphins took control of the game with each of the third quarter's four goals. Koster started the streak with an extra-man goal off a pass from sophomore midfielder Dan Entenmann (Auburn, N.Y./Auburn) with 9:02 left. Just 52 seconds later, Kesselring tallied an unassisted goal, his team-best 30th of the year. Kesselring scored again with 5:47 left for a four-goal advantage. Freshman midfielder Jake Stowell (Cazenovia, N.Y./Cazenovia) registered his second goal of the year with 4:49 remaining in the quarter off a drive from behind the cage.

Le Moyne extended its run to six straight goals with the first two of the fourth quarter. Koster scored his third goal of the game just 38 seconds into the period. Hutchings put the Dolphins up 10-3 with an unassisted goal with 9:34 left in the game.

Elijah Morrissey snapped his team's scoreless drought of 22:06 with a transition goal with 9:13 to go.

Kesselring pushed Le Moyne's lead back to seven with 8:01 left after collecting a pass from Entenmann.

The Falcons responded with three straight goals to get within four. Matt Sanford started the spree with an extra-man tally of a feed from Hurley with 6:28 left. Sanford followed with his 24th goal of the year 3:01 later. Wheeler capped the run with 2:15 left after taking a pass from Sanford.

Hutching completed Le Moyne's scoring just 17 seconds later after receiving a feed from sophomore attackman Jack Vajda (Clinton, N.J./Rutgers Prep).
