BASEBALL CLOSES OUT REGULAR SEASON WITH 1-0 VICTORY OVER ADELPHI

Syracuse, N.Y. – Sophomore righty Sam Walsh (Syracuse, N.Y./Westhill) tossed a two-hitter and redshirt sophomore second baseman Ben Walsh (Syracuse, N.Y./Westhill) drove in the game's only run as the Le Moyne College baseball team closed out the regular season with a 1-0 victory over Adelphi University in Northeast-10 Conference Southwest Division action on Sunday at the Onondaga Baseball Complex.

The Dolphins conclude the regular season with an overall record of 28-15 and a Southwest Division record of 12-6. The Dolphins open Northeast-10 Championships play as the third seed on Tuesday with a first round matchup at the second-seeded University of New Haven at 3:30 p.m.

Following five scoreless innings to start the game, during which time neither team advanced a runner to second, the Dolphins plated the game's only run. Senior left fielder Donato DiNorcia (Naples, Fla./Seacrest Country Day) was hit by a pitch to start the frame and then moved to second on a sacrifice bunt. After an out, Ben Walsh singled to right field to drive in DiNorcia.

The Panthers loaded the bases in the eighth on a single, an error and a hit batter with two outs, but Sam Walsh induced a fly out to center to end the inning.

Adelphi went down in order in the ninth to end the game.

Sam Walsh improved to 2-2 on the season after striking out 10 over the nine scoreless innings, while he yielded just two hits and two walks. Ben Walsh accounted for three of Le Moyne's five hits on the day. Matthew O'Connor took the loss for the Panthers after giving up just the one run and five hits over eight innings, while striking out four.
