Amherst, N.Y. – Junior right side
Jessica Miller (Williamsville, N.Y./Williamsville South) registered 11 kills to lead the Le Moyne College volleyball team to a 3-0 win over Daemen College on Tuesday night in non-conference action at Lumsden Gymnasium.
The Dolphins, who won in Amherst for the first time in six all-time meetings, used a pair of 5-0 runs and a 6-1 streak in the first set en route to taking a 1-0 lead in the match with a 25-19 victory. Le Moyne doubled its lead in the match with a 25-14 victory in the second set after scoring 13 of the final 17 points. The Dolphins closed out the match by rallying from a 19-17 deficit to take the third set, 25-22.
Miller tallied five her of match-high kill total in the first set, while posting three kills in each of the second and third sets. She also posted six digs, two blocks and two assists. Junior middle blocker
Anna Hafoka (Hurst, Texas/L.D. Bell) hit .476 en route to 10 kills without committing an error. Senior setter
Kendall Corcoran (Fort Salonga, N.Y./Kings Park) facilitated the offense with 33 assists, while adding eight digs. Junior libero
Mikayla Porr (Massapequa, N.Y./Massapequa) led all players in the match with 14 digs, the 10th of which gave her 1400 for her career.
Daemen, which won the East Coast Conference regular season title last year and hosted the NCAA East Regional as the second seed, was led offensively in the setback by Jenn Heritz, who hit .318 and recorded 10 kills. Katie McKrell dished out 24 assists and posted five digs. Ali Greenwood led the Wildcats defensively with 13 digs.
Le Moyne (6-5) returns to Northeast-10 Conference action on Friday at Adelphi University at 3:30 p.m.
