Colchester, Vt. – Senior outside hitter
Marguerite Dillon (Oswego, N.Y./Oswego) registered 14 kills to lead the Le Moyne College volleyball team to a 3-0 vicotry over Saint Michael's College on Saturday afternoon in Northeast-10 Conference action at the Ross Sports Center.
The Dolphins used a 5-0 run early in the first set and a 5-0 spurt towards the end en route to a 25-10 win. Le Moyne scored eight of the first nine points in the second set and eight of the last nine points in a 25-11 victory. The teams went back and forth through the first 31 points of the third set, resulting in a 16-15 lead for the Purple Knights. The Dolphins followed with six straight points to take control of the set on their way to a 25-21 win to close out the match.
Dillon, who did not commit an error and hit .560 in the match, registered seven of her kills in the opening set. Junior middle blocker
Jacquelyne Ghindia (Mission Viejo, Calif./Santa Margarita) also didn't commit an error en route to 11 kills and a .647 hitting percentage. Freshman outside hitter
Mary Talty (Clifton Park, N.Y./Shenendehowa) landed 11 kills as well, including six in the third set. Sophomore setter
Emily Yancone (Rochester, N.Y./Our Lady of Mercy) directed the offense with 42 assists, while adding six kills and six digs. Senior libero
Mikayla Porr (Massapequa, N.Y./Massapequa) led the defense with 15 digs, including six in each of the second and third sets. With her ninth dig of the match, Porr registered the 2000th dig of her career.
Allie Statile led the Purple Knights with six kills. Katy Konow handed out 22 assists and had four digs and three kills. Tanner Barton had a team-best 19 digs, including nine in the first set.
Le Moyne (10-8, 2-6 NE10) returns home to face American International College on Tuesday at 7:00 p.m.
