Marguerite Dillon (Oswego, N.Y./Oswego) and
Jessica Miller (Williamsville, N.Y./Williamsville South) each recorded 13 kills to lead the Le Moyne College volleyball team to a 3-0 win over Merrimack College on Saturday afternoon in Northeast-10 Conference action at Ted Grant Court.
After the teams split the first eight points of the first set, the Dolphins rattled off four straight points and seven of the next eight en route to a 25-13 win. Le Moyne scored the first six points of the second set on its way to a 25-17 victory. The teams went back and forth in the third set before the Dolphins scored three of the last four points for a 25-21 win to close out the match.
Miller hit .423 in the contest en route to her 13 kills, five of which came in the first set and six more in the second set. Dillon recorded a .375 hitting percentage on her way to her 13 kills, six of which came in the second set and five in the third. Freshman outside hitter
Mary Talty (Clifton Park, N.Y./Shenendehowa) was the third Dolphin with double-digit kills with 10, five of which came in the opening set. Sophomore setter
Emily Yancone (Rochester, N.Y./Our Lady of Mercy) dished out 42 assists, while adding seven digs and five service aces. Senior libero
Mikayla Porr (Massapequa, N.Y./Massapequa) totaled 12 digs, including six in the first set, and three service aces.
Catherine Flaherty led the Warriors in the loss with seven kills, while adding four digs. Megan Rumenapp dished out 13 assists in a part-time role, while posting five digs and two kills. Katelynn Marr led the team in digs with 10.
Le Moyne (11-9, 3-7 NE10) returns to the court on Friday at Bentley University at 7:30 p.m.
