Syracuse, N.Y. – The Le Moyne College women's soccer team closed out its season with a 2-0 victory over Pace University on Saturday in Northeast-10 Conference action at Ted Grant Field.
The Dolphins finish the season with a record of 5-12, including a mark of 3-11 in the NE10.
In the scoreless first half, the Dolphins registered a 5-3 advantage in shots, including three shots on goal, while taking two of the half's three corner kicks.
The Dolphins netted the game-winning goal in the 58th minute. After collecting a throw-in, sophomore forward
Maria Morotti (Little Falls, N.Y./Little Falls) sent a pass to the sideline to redshirt freshman
Marissa Lisikatos (Cold Spring, N.Y./Haldane), who served the ball into the penalty box. Sophomore forward
Elizabeth Glynn (Pittsford, N.Y./Our Lady of Mercy) received the pass and fired a shot into the left side of the net from the right side of the goal box at the 57:26 mark for her second goal of the year.
After Pace had a shot saved 20 seconds prior, Le Moyne added an insurance goal in the 66th minute. Off a cross from the right side by Morotti, freshman midfielder
Lainey Foti () sent a shot into the right side of the goal from nine yards out on the left side of the box at the 65:17 mark for her second tally of the season.
Pace put six shots on target over the final 25 minutes, but could not find the back of the net.
Senior goalkeeper
Anastasija Cumika (Riga, Latvia/Riga Kengarags/West Florida) registered eight saves, including seven in the second half, to earn her 21st win, the third-most in the program's history, and 11th shutout, the second-most in the program's history. Morgan Jones tallied four saves in the loss for the Setters. Pace finished the game with a 15-11 advantage in shots, including 12-6 in the second half, while posting a 4-3 edge in corner kicks.
