PACE DOWNS WOMEN’S BASKETBALL, 64-41, IN BATTLE FOR SECOND PLACE

Syracuse, N.Y. – Geena Rosalbo scored 14 points to lead Pace University to a 64-41 victory over the Le Moyne College women's basketball team in Northeast-10 Conference action on Wednesday evening at Ted Grant Court.

Sophomore guard McKayla Roberts (North Syracuse, N.Y./Cicero-North Syracuse) led all scorers with 15 points, 10 of which came in the first half. Despite the loss, the Dolphins clinched a first round bye in the NE10 Championships due to losses by The College of Saint Rose and Adelphi University.

Rosalbo scored nine of her 14 points in the second half, while finishing the game with five assists, three rebounds and two steals. Alexandra Monteleone also tallied 14 points and three rebounds, while Kristina Olikhver registered 13 points off the bench.

After the teams split the first 16 points of the game, the Setters took control of the game with the final six points of the opening quarter. Monteleone converted a pair of shots around a jumper by Olikhver to give the Setters a 14-8 lead after 10 minutes. The Dolphins have failed to reach double digits in the first quarter in three straight games (24 total points).

Following a lay-up by senior forward Joanna Dobrovosky (Skaneateles, N.Y./Skaneateles) to get the Dolphins within 16-12 with 7:23 to go in the half, the Setters scored six straight points to take their first double-figure lead of the game. After a three-pointer by Italee Brown-Smikle, Olikhver made a jumper.

The teams traded points over the final 4:49 as Pace took a 30-20 lead into the intermission. Roberts had six of Le Moyne's eight points in the span, while four Setters each scored two points.

Le Moyne scored the first two points of the third quarter, but Pace responded with eight straight. Rosalbo and Monteleone each connected on three-pointers around a jumper by Jackie DelliSanti.

After two free throws by Rosalbo put the Setters up 40-24 with 6:02 to go in the third, the Dolphins answered with seven of the next nine points to get within 42-31. Dobrovosky made three free throws, while Roberts and senior forward Nicole Riddick (Albany, N.Y./Colonie/UMass Lowell) each made a field goal.

Rosalbo made a fast-break lay-up to close out the quarter and give the Setters a 44-31 lead.

Pace put the game away with a 17-2 run to start the fourth quarter. Lauren Schetter, Olikhver and DelliSanti each scored four points in the span.

Following three-points from each team, the Dolphins scored the final five points of the game over the last 13 seconds.

Le Moyne (14-10, 10-8 NE10), which has lost three straight games, closes out its regular season road schedule on Saturday at Saint Rose at 1:30 p.m.
