24TH-RANKED MEN’S BASKETBALL ADVANCES TO REGIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP GAME WITH 67-63 VICTORY OVER SAINT ROSE

Syracuse, N.Y. – Senior forward Robert Jones III (Mansfield, Ohio/Mansfield/Northeastern College/Idaho State) went 10-for-10 at the foul line to lead the 24th-ranked Le Moyne College men's basketball team to a 67-63 victory over The College of Saint Rose on Sunday evening at Ted Grant Court to advance to the NCAA Championships East Region championship game.

With the victory, the program-record 26th of the season, the top-seeded Dolphins advance to the East Region championship game for the first time in the program's history and will take on seventh-seeded Bloomfield College. The Dolphins and Bears will square off for the regional championship on Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. at Grant Court. The meeting with the Bears will be the fourth all-time between the programs and the first in the postseason.

Le Moyne defeated Saint Rose in the postseason for the first time in four all-time matchups, including the second NCAA Championships meeting (1996-97).

Jones III finished the contest with a team high-tying 14 points, while grabbing six rebounds and blocking a shot off the backboard. Senior forward Isaiah Eisendorf (Silver Spring, Md./Springbrook/Gannon) also tallied 14 points to go along with five rebounds. Redshirt senior guard Tyquan Rolon (Syracuse, N.Y./Nottingham/Mohawk Valley C.C.) totaled 13 points, including 11 in the second half, a team-best four assists and three rebounds off the bench. Senior guard Russell Sangster (Rockville, Md./Bullis School) registered his first career double-double with 10 points and a season-high 10 rebounds, while adding three assists.

Mical-Ryan Boyd led the Golden Knights in the loss with 15 points, six rebounds and two steals, while playing all 40 minutes. Julian Lipinski tallied 14 points before fouling out of his final collegiate game with 5:49 to play. Matt Cerutti turned in 11 points and six rebounds. Jamaal Greenwood led the Golden Knights with seven rebounds in the ninth and final meeting against his high school teammate, Sangster. The Dolphins and Sangster won six of the nine matchups against Greenwood and the Golden Knights, including all five at Grant Court.

As they did last night in the first round, the Dolphins scored the first eight points of the game. Eisendorf knocked down a jumper, Jones III made his first two free throws, senior guard Anthony Richards (New Castle, Pa./New Castle/West Virginia Wesleyan) drained a three-pointer and then Eisendorf made a foul shot with 16:36 left.

After Cerutti got the Golden Knights on the scoreboard with 15:35 left, senior forward Daniel Kaigler (Syracuse, N.Y./Bishop Ludden/Gannon) and Jones III each made two free throws to give the Dolphins their first 10-point lead with 13:45 remaining.

Following 4-0 spurts by each over four minutes, Saint Rose scored 12 of the next 18 points to get within 22-18 with 5:05 left in the half. Anthony Russell came off the bench to drain two three-pointers, Boyd scored four points and Cerutti hit a jumper.

The Dolphins answered with a 13-4 run over 3:07 to take their largest lead of the game, 35-22, with 1:32 left. Richards started the streak with a three-pointer, Jones III and Eisendorf each scored four points and Sangster converted a lay-up.

Saint Rose scored the final three points of the half to get within 35-25 at halftime.

After the teams split the first 10 points of the second half, the Golden Knights scored five straight points to get within five, 40-35, with 16:17 remaining. Lipinski made a three-pointer and then Shane Herrity connected on two foul shots.

The Dolphins pushed their lead back to nine with 13:09 left, but Saint Rose posted another 5-0 spurt to close their deficit to four, 46-42, with 12:07 to go. Adam Anderson made a lay-up and then Jack Jones buried a three-pointer.

Following alternating lay-ups by Eisendorf and Boyd, the Dolphins scored six straight points to take their final 10-point lead of the game, 54-44, with 9:00 remaining. Rolon made a free throw and a three-pointer around a Sangster fast-break lay-up.

The teams then traded points over the ensuing eight minutes as Le Moyne's lead bounced between six and nine points and settled at 63-54 on a jumper by Rolon with 57 seconds to play.

The Golden Knights scored six straight points around three empty possessions by the Dolphins (a missed lay-up, a turnover and two missed free throws) to close within 63-60 with 28 seconds remaining. Cerutti made a lay-up and a free throw on separate possessions and then Michael Wearne drilled a three-pointer off a feed from Cerutti.

Rolon pushed Le Moyne's lead to five with two free throws with 17 seconds left, but Boyd made it a 65-63 game by making three free throws with six seconds left after getting a steal and getting fouled on a three-pointer.
