Ben Walsh (Syracuse, N.Y./Westhill) registered a program-record nine runs batted in to lead the Le Moyne College baseball team to a 16-3 win over Molloy College on Saturday afternoon in the first game of a doubleheader at Mitchel Field. The Dolphins completed the sweep by winning the nightcap, 8-4.
In the opening game, the Dolphins struck for four runs in the first inning on four hits. Senior right fielder/first baseman
Brian Cox (North Kingstown, R.I./North Kingstown) led off with a single to center and then stole second. After an out, junior designated hitter
Nick Place (Towanda, Pa./Towanda) singled through the left side to plate Cox. Following a single to right by senior center fielder
JT Pittman (Ashland, Mass./Ashland/Bridgton Academy), Walsh blasted a three-run homer to left center.
Le Moyne added three runs on one hit in the third inning. Redshirt junior first baseman
Andrew Taft (Clinton, N.Y./Clinton/Buffalo) led off with a walk and took second on a wild pitch with one out. After a walk by Pittman, Walsh connected on another three-run home run to left.
The Dolphins scored three runs again in the fourth on three hits. Sophomore third baseman
Nicholas Jacques (Ballston Lake, N.Y./Shenendehowa) led off with solo homer to left field. Following an out, Taft blasted his seventh homer of the season to left. Pittman then walked, stole second, took third on an error and scored on a single to left by Walsh.
Le Moyne finished off its scoring with six runs in the sixth on four hits. Taft led off with a double and came around to score on a single to left by Place. After Pittman doubled to right center, Walsh singled to center to drive in Place and Pittman. Following two walks to load the bases around a pitching change, Walsh scored on a wild pitch for a 14-0 lead. After another walk to load the bases again, junior catcher
Camillo Spinoso (Syracuse, N.Y./Christian Brothers Academy/George Washington) scored as Jacques reached on a fielder's choice. Sophomore left fielder
Justin Tuey (Kingston, N.Y./Kingston) then scored his team's final run on a wild pitch.
The Lions got on the scoreboard in the bottom of the eighth with two runs on two hits. Shortstop Matthew Imbrogno walked, moved to second on a groundout, advanced to third on a single and scored on a groundout. After a double and a walk to load the bases, second baseman/catcher Sean Hogan drew the third walk of the inning to force in second baseman Ryan Hensley.
Molloy completed the game's scoring with a run in the bottom of the ninth. Third baseman Jake McCarthy led off with a double to center, moved to third on a groundout and scored on a single through the right side by third baseman/second baseman Jack McCarty.
Junior righty
Josiah Gray (New Rochelle, N.Y./New Rochelle) won his fourth straight start after striking out eight batters over seven scoreless innings, while yielding just five hits. Walsh finished the contest with four hits and scored three runs to go along with his nine RBI. Deric Crisafi had the previous single-game record of eight RBI, which he had on May 1, 1999 against Niagara. Taft, Place, Pittman and Cox each posted two hits in the game, while Pittman scored four times. Kevin Hiss took the loss for the Lions after giving up 10 runs on 10 hits over three and two-thirds innings.
The Dolphins scored first again in the second game with two runs in the first inning. Cox recorded the first of his four hits in the game to lead off the first and moved to second on a single by Taft. After Cox advanced to third on a double play, he scored on a single by Pittman. Walsh followed with a double to right to drive in Pittman.
The Lions took their only lead of the day in the bottom of the first with three runs. Left fielder Jake Saltzman started the scoring with a one-out solo home run to left field. Following a fly out and a walk, right fielder Elijah Leerdam launched a two-run homer to left field.
Le Moyne answered back in the second to knot the score at three apiece. Redshirt freshman second baseman
Brian O'Mara (Syracuse, N.Y./Westhill) walked to open the inning, stole second with one out and scored on a two-out double to left by Cox.
The Dolphins regained the lead with three runs in the top of the third. Pittman walked and moved to second on a wild pitch to start the frame. Following a pair of outs, Jacques tripled to right to knock in Pittman and Tuey, who reached on a fielder's choice. Jacques then scored on a wild pitch.
Molloy got one run back in the bottom of the third. Overton singled to open the inning, moved to second on a single by Hogan, took third on a walk and scored on a two-out wild pitch.
The Dolphins hit a pair of solo homers in the fifth to complete the day's scoring. Jacques homered to center with one out and Cox homered to center with two outs.

Sam Walsh (Syracuse, N.Y./Westhill) collected his first win of the year after striking out six over four innings, while yielding four runs and six hits. Senior
Alex Kubera (Dunkirk, N.Y./Dunkirk/Niagara C.C.) picked up his first save after striking out four over the final three innings. In addition to Cox's four-hit performance, Jacques had three hits and Pittman had two, while they each scored twice. Anthony Catinella took the loss after giving up eight runs (five earned) over four and two-thirds innings.
