MEN’S TENNIS RUNS WIN STREAK TO FIVE WITH 9-0 VICTORY AT SAINT MICHAEL’S

Colchester, Vt. – The Le Moyne College men's tennis team extended its win streak to five with a 9-0 victory over Saint Michael's College on Thursday afternoon in Northeast-10 Conference action at the SMC Tennis Courts.

Juniors Xavier Graells (Castellar del Vallès, Spain/IES Castellar/Harford Community College) and Tyler Underwood (Minoa, N.Y./East Syracuse-Minoa) recorded the first point of the afternoon with an 8-1 win over Cam Maher and Colby Antonacci at the second doubles position to improve to 7-0 in conference action. Junior Andres Hernandez (Monterrey, Mexico/Laurel Springs/Texas Rio Grande Valley) and senior Jason Barton (Lima, Ohio/Shawnee) pushed the lead to 2-0 by downing Matt Mosher and Dan Foley at the first spot, 8-2. Senior Hallam Doney (Andover, Hampshire/Peter Symonds) and freshman Christian Erickson (Fairport, N.Y./Fairport) completed the sweep of the doubles action with an 8-3 win over Jake Remillard and Alex Mohbat at the third position.

The Dolphins completed the sweep by winning each of the matches in the singles competition in straight sets. The first win came at the sixth spot as Underwood was victorious over Antonacci with consecutive scores of 6-2. Hernandez clinched the match for the Dolphins with a 6-1, 6-0 win at the first position over Mosher. After Barton finished off a 6-2, 6-0 win at the third spot over Remillard for his fifth consecutive victory, Graells back-to-back scores of 6-3 to beat Foley at the second position for his fifth straight win. Doney picked up his third consecutive win, 6-0, 6-2, over Maher at the fourth spot, while Erickson completed the match with a 6-3, 6-1 win over Mohbat at the fifth position.

Le Moyne (8-4, 5-2 NE10), which is eighth in the ITA East Region rankings, is back on the courts on Tuesday at Assumption College at 3:00 p.m.
