Clermont, Fla. – Sophomore
Peyton Bellrose (Liverpool, N.Y./Liverpool) had four hits and scored three runs to lead the Le Moyne College softball team to wins over Felician University and Holy Family University on Thursday morning at Legends Way. The Dolphins defeated Felician, 6-3, and then topped Holy Family, 4-2.
Felician started the scoring with two runs on three hits in the bottom of the first inning. Left fielder Jeannette Roldan led off with a double and advanced to third on a wild pitch. She then scored on a groundout by shortstop C.J. Apacible. Pitcher/third baseman Jaimie Parisi followed with a double, took third on a groundout and scored on a double by third baseman/designated player Mia Montoya, which forced a Le Moyne pitching change.
Le Moyne took the lead with four runs on four hits and one Felician error in the top of the third. Graduate student center fielder
Kelsey Johnson (Greece, N.Y./Our Lady of Mercy/Buffalo/Syracuse) singled with one out, moved to second as sophomore catcher
Ally Nicolosi (Auburn, N.Y./Auburn) reached on an error and then took third as junior right fielder
Lauren Zazzaro (Southington, Conn./Southington) singled to load the bases. Bellrose then doubled to drive in Johnson, Nicolosi and Zazzaro. After a pitching change and an out, senior
Tess Andrews (Camillus, N.Y./West Genesee) doubled to knock in Bellrose.
The Dolphins tacked on a run in the top of the fifth. Zazzaro singled with one out, stole second, took third on a wild pitch and scored on a two-out single by junior left fielder
Madison DeRita (Higganum, Conn./Mercy).
The Golden Falcons got within two with a run in the bottom of the sixth. Montoya singled to open the frame, moved to second on a groundout, advanced to third on a single and scored on a double by second baseman Victoria Quercia.
Le Moyne completed the game's scoring with a run in the seventh. Bellrose led off with a single and was replaced at first by freshman pinch-runner
McKenna Mattison (Elmira, N.Y./Horseheads), who then stole second. Following an out, Mattison scored as Andrews reached on a dropped fly ball by the center fielder.

Lauren Nichols (Syracuse, N.Y./Solvay) earned her first collegiate victory after striking out four over four and two-thirds innings out of the bullpen, while yielding just one run and three hits. Senior righty
Alexis Eastman (Endicott, N.Y./Union-Endicott) earned her first save of the season and the ninth of her career by recording the final five outs of the contest. Zazzaro finished the game with three hits, while Bellrose and Johnson each had two. Parisi took the loss after giving up four runs (two earned) over two and one-third innings.
The Dolphins opened the scoring against Holy Family with a pair of runs in the bottom of the second. Bellrose walked to start the inning, moved to second on a single by Andrews and then took third on a groundout. Following an out, freshman catcher
Olivia Littman (Newfane, N.Y./Newfane) singled to right field to drive in Bellrose and Andrews.
Le Moyne extended its lead to three with a run in the fourth. Bellrose singled to the pitcher, advanced to third on a one-out double to right by DeRita and scored on a single to right by Eastman.
The Dolphins took a 4-0 lead in the fifth with a run on two hits. Johnson doubled with one out, stole third and then scored on a single to center by Mattison.
The Tigers scored twice in the seventh on four hits, but were unable to get the tying run on base. Left fielder Alyssa Cudeyro led off with a bunt single and advanced to second on a one-out single by right fielder Heather Bogardus. After an out and a single by pinch-hitter Olivia Nolan to load the bases, center fielder Kelsey Marigliano singled to left to drive in Cudeyro and Bogardus. Eastman struck out the next batter to end the game.
Eastman improved to a conference-leading 7-1 on the season by striking out six over the seven innings, while yielding two runs on eight hits. Johnson and Bellrose each tallied two hits in the game. Hannah Miravich took the loss after giving up four runs over five and one-third innings.
Le Moyne (12-2), which has won 12 of its first 14 games for the first time since the 2003 season, takes on Northeast-10 Conference foe Southern New Hampshire University in a doubleheader on Friday beginning at 9:00 a.m.
