MEN’S TENNIS DOWNS STONEHILL, 8-1, ON “SENIOR DAY” TO CLOSE OUT NE10 PLAY

DeWitt, N.Y. – The Le Moyne College men's tennis team completed its Northeast-10 Conference schedule on Wednesday afternoon with an 8-1 victory over Stonehill College at Elevate Fitness.

The Dolphins, who are ranked seventh in this week's NCAA East Region rankings, conclude NE10 play with a 7-2 record and will be the third seed in next week's NE10 Championship. The Dolphins will host the sixth seed on Tuesday at a time to be determined following the completion of the rest of the league's schedules.

The Dolphins opened the day by winning two of the three matches in the doubles competition. At the second spot, junior Andres Hernandez () and senior Jason Barton (Lima, Ohio/Shawnee) defeated Russell White and Manu Ravichandrakumar, 8-5, for the first point of the match. Juniors Xavier Graells () and Tyler Underwood (Minoa, N.Y./East Syracuse-Minoa) closed out NE10 play undefeated at 9-0 with an 8-5 victory at the third position over Nikolay Lisichenok and Jeffrey Gagnon. Stonehill earned its only point at the first spot as Thomas Bellio and Trent Newman edged sophomore Philip Blythe () and senior Hallam Doney (Andover, Hampshire/Peter Symonds), 9-7.
 
Le Moyne swept the singles competition en route to the victory. Blythe collected the team's third point of the match by defeating Bellio, 7-5, 6-0, at the first position. Graells tallied his team-best eighth straight win, 7-6 (7-2), 6-3, at the third spot over White. Hernandez clinched the match for the Dolphins by rallying to beat Newman at the second position, 3-6, 6-3, 10-4, for his team-best 14th win of the year. Barton cruised to a 6-0, 6-0 win at the fourth position over Ravichandrakumar. Freshman Christian Erickson (Fairport, N.Y./Fairport) was a 6-3, 6-1 winner at the fifth spot against Aaron Diamond, while Underwood concluded the match with a 6-3, 6-2 victory at the sixth position against Gagnon.

Le Moyne (11-4, 7-2 NE10), which has won eight straight matches, wraps up its regular season home schedule on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. against the University of the Sciences at the Skytop Tennis Courts.
