Greensburg, Pa. – Jack Moran and John Hofseth each recorded four points to lead second-seeded Seton Hill University to a 14-10 victory over the third-seeded Le Moyne College men's lacrosse team in the NCAA Championships quarterfinals on Saturday afternoon at Dick's Sporting Goods Field.
The Dolphins finish the season with a 15-2 record after dropping back-to-back games for just the second time since 2002 (also to close out the 2014 season).
Le Moyne got the scoring started 1:31 into the game as sophomore midfielder
Matt Hutchings (Marcellus, N.Y./Marcellus) netted his 20th goal of the season.
The Griffins answered back 54 seconds later as Zack Rusch tallied his 25th goal of the campaign.
The Dolphins took their final lead of the game with 9:13 left in the first quarter as senior attackman
Justin Kesselring (Fairport, N.Y./Fairport) finished off a feed from junior midfielder
Dan Entenmann (Auburn, N.Y./Auburn).
Seton Hill tallied the final four goals of the quarter to take control of the game. Moran posted his 50th goal with 7:25 to go. John Miller gave the Griffins their first lead with 5:52 remaining off a pass from Rusch. Ryan Manbeck extended the lead to 4-2 with 4:07 left after taking a feed from Hofseth, who capped the quarter's scoring with 3:04 left with his 37th goal of the season.
As he did in the first quarter, Hutchings scored the first goal of the second quarter, this time 2:35 into the period off a feed from Entenmann.
The Griffins answered with the next two goals in a span of 42 seconds to take their first four-goal lead of the game. Shane Pettke tallied his eighth goal of the season with 11:48 remaining. He scored his ninth goal with 11:06 to go for a 7-3 lead.
Le Moyne took advantage of two Seton Hill penalties to score four straight goals in 2:07 to tie the score. Off a two-minute non-releasable cross-check penalty at the 8:44 mark, senior attackman
Greg White (Buffalo, N.Y./Nichols School) started the run with his 19th goal of the year with 8:22 left off a feed from Hutchings. Just 46 seconds later, Entenmann finished off a pass from Kesselring for his 14th goal of the campaign. Kesselring followed with his 44th goal with 7:01 to go after collecting a feed from Hutchings. Just after that penalty expired, the Griffins were assessed another one-minute penalty with 6:34 left. Kesselring then tied the score with 6:15 remaining off a pass from freshman attackman

Seton Hill responded with three straight goals to take a 10-7 lead into halftime. Defender Joe Cillo gave the Griffins the lead for good with 4:44 left off a clear. Moran extended the lead to 9-7 with 3:21 remaining off a pass from Sean Stanners. Hofseth capped the half's scoring with 2:00 to go with his 38th goal of the year off a pass from Moran.
After 12 minutes of scoreless action to start the third quarter, Stanners netted an extra-man goal at the 2:47 mark after taking a feed from Hofseth. Miller followed at the 1:32 mark with his 16th goal of the year off another feed from Manbeck.
The Dolphins scored the first two goals of the fourth quarter to get back within three. Sophomore midfielder
Hans Zimmer (Ballston Spa, N.Y./Ballston Spa) tallied his 11th goal of the year with 10:06 to go. Sophomore midfielder
Ross Filtch (Marcellus, N.Y./Marcellus/Siena) followed with his 21st goal with 8:17 to play.
Jay Scerbo won the ensuing faceoff and raced down to score his 10th goal of the year just seven seconds later. Moran completed Seton Hill's scoring with his 52nd goal of the season with 3:43 to play.

Kaiden Tubbert (Auburn, N.Y./Auburn/Bridgton Academy) capped the scoring in the game with his fifth goal of the season with 45 seconds left off a pass from classmate
Evan Kelly (Honeoye Falls, N.Y./Aquinas Institute).
Redshirt junior goalkeeper
Jack Sweeney (Syracuse, N.Y./Westhill/Onondaga C.C.) made 12 saves, including six in the third quarter, in between the pipes in the loss. Max Eismann recorded nine saves, including five in the fourth quarter, to earn the win for the Griffins.
