LE MOYNE GOLD WAVE ANNOUNCES HALL OF FAME CLASS OF 2018

Syracuse, N.Y. – The Le Moyne College Gold Wave will enshrine the Hall of Fame Class of 2018 containing four former Dolphins and three teams on Saturday, September 22nd as part of John 'Doc' Joiner Homecoming Weekend. The Class of 2018 includes Amanda Daniels '03 (women's lacrosse and soccer), Paul Galvin '84 (men's basketball), Neil Olshey '87 (men's lacrosse/honorary) and Jennifer Winters '06 (softball) and the 1979 Baseball, 2006 Men's Lacrosse and 2007 Men's Lacrosse teams.
 
Amanda Daniels '03 // Women's Lacrosse/Women's Soccer (1999-2003)
A two-sport student-athlete, Amanda Daniels '03 is the second member of the women's lacrosse program and eighth member of the women's soccer program to be elected to the Gold Wave Hall of Fame. A four-time Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference First Team selection for the women's lacrosse team, Daniels tallied 190 points on 164 goals and 26 assists over 64 games played, while adding 151 ground balls, 80 draw controls and 47 caused turnovers. She led the Dolphins to consecutive MAAC Championships and NCAA Division I tournament berths as a junior and senior. At the completion of her career, she held the program's records for goals and points, while she currently ranks third in goals and ninth in points. Additionally, she is tied for sixth in career ground balls with 151. She is the only player in the program's history to score at least 40 goals in a season three times and is one of only two players to lead the team in goals three times. With her 47th of 49 goals as a junior in 2002, she became the program's career goals scored leader, a spot she held until the 2007 season, while she became the program's career points leader, another spot she held until 2007, with her 35th of 38 points as a senior in 2003. A starter in 52 of 67 games on the soccer field, Daniels registered 35 points on 15 goals and five assists.

Paul Galvin '84 // Men's Basketball (1980-84)
The program's all-time leader in assists, Paul Galvin '84 is the 33rd men's basketball player to earn a spot in the Gold Wave Hall of Fame. Over 104 career games, he dished out 602 assists to go along with 798 points and 273 rebounds. As a sophomore, he dished out a then-program record 120 assists. He eclipsed the mark the following year with 178 assists and closed out his career by handing out 197 assists. He held the top spot on the chart until the 1997-98 season. He was the first player in the program's history to record at least 100 assists in all four seasons and is one of just three players currently. As a senior, he led the Dolphins to the program's first 20-win season by averaging 10.3 points, 7.0 assists, 2.8 rebounds and 1.9 steals per game.
 
Neil Olshey '87 // Men's Lacrosse/Honorary (1983-87)
One of the original members of the men's lacrosse program, Neil Olshey '87 earns election into the Gold Wave Hall of Fame as an honorary member. Over 45 career games, Olshey tallied 48 points on 24 goals and 24 assists. As a senior, he posted 38 points on 21 goals and 17 assists. He ranked second on the team in all three categories. Following roles on numerous television series, he transitioned to working in the basketball industry. His first position in the National Basketball Association (NBA) came as the Director of Player Personnel with the Los Angeles Clippers in 2003-04. The following season he became an assistant coach with the Clippers and held that role until being named Assistant General Manager prior to the start of the 2008-09 season. He was promoted to General Manager in March 2010 and then held the title of Vice President of Basketball Operations for two seasons, the second of which he finished third in votes for the 2011-12 NBA Executive of the Year Award. In June 2012, he was named the 10th General Manager of the Portland Trail Blazers. In 2015, he was promoted to President of Basketball Operations and was runner-up for the NBA Executive of the Year Award the following season.

Jennifer Winters '06 // Softball (2002-06)
The only infielder in the program's history to receive NFCA All-America honors, Jennifer Winters '06 is the sixth member of the softball program to be elected to the Gold Wave Hall of Fame. As a starter in all 178 games of her career, Winters slashed .368/.412/.581 with 208 hits, 130 runs scored, 117 runs batted in, 40 doubles, 20 home runs, 10 triples and 15 stolen bases, while leading the Dolphins to three NCAA regional championships and one Northeast-10 Conference championship. The Northeast-10 Conference Freshman of the Year in 2003, Winters was tabbed to the NFCA All-America Second Team as a freshman in 2003 and was a four-time NFCA All-Region and NE10 All-Conference selection. She is the only freshman in the program's history to be named an all-American and one of just two freshmen to earn all-Region accolades. The 2006 Rev. J.J. O'Brien Senior Athlete Achievement Award recipient, she ranks second in the program's history in batting average and slugging percentage, both of which she ranked first in until 2017, and fifth in on-base percentage and runs scored. She was the third member of the program to record 200 career hits and currently ranks sixth in the category. Her 1.17 hits per game is the third-best mark in the program's history. She is tied for sixth in home runs and RBI and was the program leader in both categories at the time of her graduation.
 
1979 Baseball Team
The 1979 baseball team went 51-8 over the Fall and Spring seasons and finished in third place at the NCAA Championships. The team featured eight members who earned election into the Gold Wave Hall of Fame and 10 who went on to play professionally. The Dolphins went 20-3 during the Fall season, the best in the program's history, including a pair of eight-game winning streaks as the team won 16 of its last 17 games. During the Spring, the Dolphins went 31-5, including 25-2 in the regular season. The team won its last 15 regular season games and extended the streak to 17 by winning the first two games of the Mid-Atlantic Regional at MacArthur Stadium, home of the Syracuse Chiefs. The Dolphins captured their second straight Mid-Atlantic title by defeating California (Pa.) in the winner-take-all championship game. The Dolphins then went on to record victories over Minnesota State-Mankato, Jacksonville State and New Haven in the NCAA Championships in Springfield, Illinois. Thomas Fletcher, Michael Mariano and Carmen Vecchio earned all-America honors and were joined by Steve Helmer, Dave McKie and Dave Thomson in collecting all-region and all-conference honors.
 
2006 Men's Lacrosse Team
The 2006 men's lacrosse team captured the second national championship in the College's history with a 12-5 victory over Dowling. The Dolphins finished the season with a then-Division II record mark of 18-0. In addition to the national championship, the Dolphins won their seventh straight Northeast-10 Conference Regular Season Championship and sixth consecutive NE10 Tournament Championship. The class of 2006 finished its career with a record of 62-2, four NCAA tournament appearances, four Northeast-10 Conference Regular Season and Tournament championships and two national championships. The class' .969 winning percentage is the best in the program's history. Five members of the team were named to the USILA All-America First Team, two were tabbed to the USILA Second Team and one was an Honorable Mention selection. Senior Travis Tarr was the recipient of the William C. Schmeisser Award as the nation's Most Outstanding Defensive Player, redshirt junior Jared Corcoran collected the Ensign C. Markland Kelly Jr. Award as the nation's Most Outstanding Goalkeeper and junior Matt Cassalia earned the Lt. Donald McLaughlin Jr. Award as the nation's Most Outstanding Midfielder. Tarr was named the Northeast-10 Conference Player and Defensive Player of the Year and Corcoran collected NE10 Goalkeeper of the Year honors as five players were named to the NE10 First Team and five were selected to the NE10 Second Team. The team finished with a goals against average of 3.67, the second-best mark in the history of Division II and tied for the third-best mark in NCAA history (spanning all three divisions).
 
2007 Men's Lacrosse Team
The 2007 men's lacrosse team captured the third national championship in the College's history with a 6-5 win over Mercyhurst. The winning goal from junior Mike McDonald came with one second remaining. For his efforts, McDonald was named the Championship Most Outstanding Player for the second straight year. The Dolphins completed the season with a record of 15-2, which included the program's seventh straight NE10 Tournament Championship. The class of 2007 finished its career with a record of 63-3, four NCAA tournament appearances, four Northeast-10 Conference Tournament championships, three NE10 Regular Season titles and three national championships. The class's .955 winning percentage is the second-best in the program's history. Four members of the team were named to the USILA All-America First Team, and one was selected to the USILA Second Team. Redshirt senior Jared Corcoran collected his third straight Ensign C. Markland Kelly Jr. Award as the nation's Most Outstanding Goalkeeper, junior Mike McDonald earned the Lt. Col. J.I. Turnbull Award as the nation's Most Outstanding Attackman and sophomore Brian Griffin was named the Faceoff Specialist of the Year. Corcoran collected NE10 Goalkeeper of the Year honors for the fourth consecutive season as four players were named to the NE10 First Team and four were selected to the NE10 Second Team.
