New Haven, Conn. – Leanna Jadus registered a double-double to lead Southern Connecticut State University to a 3-1 victory over the Le Moyne College volleyball team in the Northeast-10 Conference opener for both teams on Tuesday night at Pelz Gym.
The Owls scored the first six points of the match and 12 of the last 17 points en route to winning the first set, 25-16. Southern Connecticut State opened the second set with the first four points and nine of the first 11 as the Owls took a 2-0 lead in the match with a 25-11 win in the set. The Dolphins stayed alive in the match with a 25-21 win in the third set after using an 8-2 run to pull away in the middle of the set. After the teams split the first six points of the fourth set, the Owls rattled off 10 straight points on their way to a 25-13 win to close out the match.

Jessica Miller (Williamsville, N.Y./Williamsville South) was the only Dolphin with more than four kills by tallying 11, including six in the third set win, while adding four digs. Sophomore setter
Emily Yancone (Rochester, N.Y./Our Lady of Mercy) registered her sixth double-double in nine matches with 20 assists and 12 digs. Senior libero

Claire Hiwiller (North Tonawanda, N.Y./Sweet Home) also posted double-figure digs with 12 and 11, respectively.
Jadus registered 19 kills, including six in the first set, and 14 digs for her double-double, while hitting .347 and posting five service aces. Jillian Chambers also tallied a double-double with 12 kills, while hitting .480, and 11 digs. Alyssa Gage was the third Owl with double-digit kills with 11 to go along with four blocks and three assists. Kaitlyn O'Neal was the third Owl with a double-double with 30 assists and 12 digs. Anna Venard led all players with 17 digs, while Gabriela Vazquez tallied 15 digs, seven kills and four blocks.
Le Moyne (6-3, 0-1 NE10), which has dropped its NE10 opener to the Owls in back-to-back years, opens its home schedule on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. against Adelphi University.
