VOLLEYBALL REGISTERS 3-0 WIN OVER ROBERTS WESLEYAN

Syracuse, N.Y. – Three Dolphins each recorded double-digit kills to lead the Le Moyne College volleyball team to a 3-0 win over Roberts Wesleyan College on Wednesday night in non-conference action at Ted Grant Court.

The Dolphins opened the match by winning the first set, 25-16. After the teams split the first 16 points, the Dolphins rattled off nine of the next 10 points to take control of the set. Le Moyne doubled its lead with a 25-21 victory in the second set. Following six straight points by the Redhawks to even the set at 17 apiece, the Dolphins tallied eight of the final 12 points. The Dolphins used an 11-1 run following a 9-9 tie en route to putting the match away with a 25-15 victory in the third set.

Senior outside hitter Marguerite Dillon (Oswego, N.Y./Oswego) led the Dolphins offensively with 11 kills, while adding eight digs. Senior right side Jessica Miller (Williamsville, N.Y./Williamsville South) and freshman outside hitter Mary Talty (Clifton Park, N.Y./Shenendehowa) each landed 10 kills, while Miller hit .429 and had three blocks and Talty hit .421. Sophomore setter Emily Yancone (Rochester, N.Y./Our Lady of Mercy) directed the offense with 37 assists, while adding four kills and two digs. Senior libero Mikayla Porr (Massapequa, N.Y./Massapequa) led the Dolphins defensively with 13 digs.

Anastasia Smith led the Redhawks with six kills. Emily Rowlison tallied 11 assists, four digs and two kills. Rachel Holmes was the team leader in digs with seven.

Le Moyne (7-4), which snapped a three-match skid, hosts the University of New Haven on Saturday at 3:30 p.m.
