WOMEN’S BASKETBALL WINS EIGHTH STRAIGHT, 63-51, AT FRANKLIN PIERCE

Rindge, N.H. – Junior guard McKayla Roberts (North Syracuse, N.Y./Cicero-North Syracuse) scored nine of her 19 points in the fourth quarter to lead the Le Moyne College women's basketball team to its eighth straight win, 63-51, at Franklin Pierce University on Saturday afternoon in Northeast-10 Conference action at The Fieldhouse.

The eight-game win streak is the second-longest by the Dolphins in the program's history and the longest since a 13-game win streak in the 1994-95 season.

Roberts, who has scored in double figures in 43 consecutive starts, tallied 10 of her game-high point total from the foul line, while draining a trio of three-pointers. She is the first Dolphins to make 10 foul shots without a miss since Emily Bayly '12 went 10-for-10 against Southern New Hampshire University on January 15, 2011. With her 11th point of the game, a free throw at the 9:02 mark of the fourth quarter, Roberts moved past Emily Greer '15 for 16th place on the program's all-time scoring list with her 960th career point. Freshman guard Cameron Tooley (Clifton Park, N.Y./Shenendehowa) tallied 14 points, dished out four assists and grabbed four rebounds. Freshman forward Jenna Zimmerman (Adams, N.Y./South Jefferson) recorded 13 points, pulled down six rebounds and blocked four shots.

The Ravens were led in the loss by Sophia Holmes, who scored 15 points. Izzy Lipinski turned in a double-double of 10 points and 14 rebounds, 10 of which came in the first half.

After the teams split the first 10 points of the game, Franklin Pierce scored five straight points to take its largest lead of the game. Holmes made a three-pointer and then Hannah Martin converted a jumper to force a Le Moyne timeout with 3:15 left in the first quarter.

Le Moyne answered with the final nine points of the quarter to take the lead. Zimmerman started the run with her second three-pointer of the quarter and sophomore forward Madison Shetrom (Altoona, Pa./Altoona) followed with two free throws to knot the score at 10 apiece. Roberts put her team in front with two foul shots, while Tooley converted a lay-up with 56 seconds left in the period to give the Dolphins a 14-10 advantage after 10 minutes of play.

The Dolphins extended their run to 13 straight points with the first four of the second quarter. Tooley made the score 18-10 with 9:05 with a three-pointer.

The Ravens countered with the next six points to close within three points. Holmes made a lay-up before Lipinski converted a pair of lay-ups.

Le Moyne scored nine of the next 11 points to take its first double-digit lead of the contest. Roberts drained her first three-pointer of the game, Zimmerman made a lay-up and senior guard Madison Purcell (Clifton Park, N.Y./Catholic Central) converted a foul shot for a 25-16 lead. Claudia Tucci made four free throws around a three-pointer by Tooley to get the Ravens within 28-20 at halftime.

Following two free throws by Lipinski to start the third quarter, the Dolphins scored nine of the next 10 points. Roberts made a three pointer and two free throws for the first 11-point lead of the game and then Zimmerman connected on a three-pointer and a lay-up around a free throw by Demi Akins.

Franklin Pierce responded with a 9-2 run to get back within single digits. Rylee Skinner made three free throws over two possessions and then Akins made two foul shots. Lipinski followed with a lay-up to snap Franklin Pierce's drought of 11:40 without a field goal. Holmes then made one of her own with 2:59 left in the quarter to get the Ravens within 40-32.

The Dolphins scored four of the last five points to take a 44-33 lead after three quarters. Tooley made a lay-up and then Shetrom and Purcell each went 1-of-2 at the foul line.

Le Moyne pushed its lead back to 15 on two occasions in the opening minutes of the fourth quarter as Roberts went 4-for-4 at the foul line after two technical fouls were issued to Franklin Pierce.

The Ravens countered with five straight points on a conventional three-point play by Freya Cooney and a lay-up by Holmes to get within 10.

After Tooley and Tucci traded baskets, the Dolphins scored 11 of the next 15 points to take their largest lead of the game. Tooley made two free throws to start the span and then Roberts made another two after a third Franklin Pierce technical foul. Following lay-ups by Lipinski and Lisa Sulejmani around a lay-up by Purcell, Roberts drilled a three-pointer from the right wing and Shetrom followed with two free throws for a 63-46 lead with 1:28 to play.

Sulejmani hit a three-pointer and Skinner made a lay-up to close out the game's scoring.
