MEN’S AND WOMEN’S SWIMMING AND DIVING TEAMS FALL AT NAZARETH

Rochester, N.Y. - Sophomore Haley Synan (Belchertown, Mass./Belchertown) and junior Haley Decker (Vernon, N.Y./Vernon-Verona-Sherrill) each won three events, but the Le Moyne College women's swimming and diving team was edged by Nazareth College, 149-139, on Friday night in the Shults Center Pool. Nazareth also won the men's meet, 178-120.

Synan earned the team's first victory of the day by touching the wall first in the 800-meter freestyle by over 13 seconds with a time of 9:45.67. She later won the 100-meter butterfly by two seconds with a time of 1:07.14. She registered her third victory by topping the field in the 400-meter IM by over 12 seconds with a time of 5:22.25.

Decker won the 200-meter freestyle by 0.77 seconds with a time of 2:12.45 for Le Moyne's second win of the night. She claimed her second victory of the evening with a time of 2:35.24 in the 200-meter butterfly to win by four and one-half seconds. She tallied her third win of the meet by capturing the 400-meter freestyle by over two seconds with a time of 4:47.61.

Freshman Jordyn Sommo (Guilderland, N.Y./Guilderland) topped the field in the 100-meter backstroke by registering a time of 1:11.88 to win by 0.15 seconds. She completed the sweep of the backstroke events by winning the 200-meter with a time of 2:34.00.

On the men's side, junior Matthew Walton (Queensbury, N.Y./Queensbury) was victorious in the 200-meter freestyle by almost two seconds after touching the wall in 2:02.88 to claim the team's first win of the meet. He earned the team's final victory with a time of 1:01.49 to win the 100-meter butterfly by just 0.03 seconds.

Sophomore Cameron Keatley (Avon, N.Y./Avon) was the team's second winner by recording a time of 2:17.42 in the 200-meter backstroke.

Sophomore Austin Richardson (Oswego, N.Y./Oswego) won the 400-meter freestyle by over five and one-half seconds by touching the wall in 4:22.41.

The Dolphins close out the regular season on Saturday, January 26 against SUNY Cortland at 1:00 p.m. Prior to the meet, the senior class of Haley Buchholz (Skaneateles, N.Y./Skaneateles), Eric Burdge (Clifton Park, N.Y./Shenendehowa), Connor Haldane (Homer, N.Y./Homer), Caroline Kelly (Wilton, N.Y./Saratoga Springs) and Emily Nicastro (Rochester, N.Y./Webster Schroeder) will be honored by the Dolphin Athletic Association for their contributions to the program.
