Syracuse, N.Y. – Sophia Poveda recorded a double-double to lead Stonehill College to a 3-1 win over the Le Moyne College volleyball team in Northeast-10 Conference action on Friday night at Ted Grant Court.
The Dolphins opened the match by holding on for a 25-22 win in the first set. The Skyhawks answered back with a 25-18 victory in the second set to knot the match at one apiece. Stonehill took a 2-1 lead in the match with a 25-14 win in the third set. The Skyhawks closed out the match with a 25-16 victory in the fourth set.
Sophomore outside hitter
Mary Talty (Clifton Park, N.Y./Shenendehowa) led the Dolphins offensively with 17 kills, while adding three digs and three blocks. Junior setter
Emily Yancone (Rochester, N.Y./Our Lady of Mercy) directed the offense with 30 assists, while posting six digs and three kills. Sophomore libero
Emily Mosack (Webster, N.Y./Webster-Schroeder) was the team's defensive leader with 18 digs, while classmate
Meagan Murphy (Kings Park, N.Y./Kings Park) contributed 12 digs.
Poveda led the Skyhawks with 16 kills on a .412 hitting percentage to go along with 13 digs. Abby Remick turned in 12 kills, while Clare Feeman posted 10 kills, eight digs, four service aces and four blocks. Jessica Givens and Molly Turner split the setting duties with 34 and 17 assists, respectively, while Turner added six digs. Rachel Dunlavy led all players in the match with 22 digs.
Le Moyne (10-8, 3-3 NE10) is back on the hardwood on Saturday against Bentley University at 12:00 p.m.
