BENTLEY RALLIES TO STAY UNBEATEN IN NE10 PLAY WITH 3-2 WIN OVER VOLLEYBALL

Syracuse, N.Y. - Dani Milner landed 15 kills to lead Bentley University to a 3-2 come-from-behind victory over the Le Moyne College volleyball team in Northeast-10 Conference action on Saturday afternoon at Ted Grant Court.

Bentley, which dropped two sets for just the second time in its 15-match win streak, opened the first set with seven of the first 10 points before the Dolphins answered with five of the next six points to tie the score. Neither team led by more than two the remainder of the set, which the Dolphins won 27-25 after scoring the final three points.

Le Moyne scored the first four points and seven of the first nine of the second set. After the Dolphins took a 15-12 lead, the Falcons scored six straight and seven of eight to take a three-point lead. The Dolphins answered with five straight points to go up 21-19, but Bentley closed out the set with the final six points for a 25-21 win.

After Bentley scored three straight points for a 12-11 lead in the third set, the Dolphins rattled off 11 of the next 13 points, including seven consecutive for a 22-14 advantage. Following a Bentley point to snap the run, the Dolphins answered with three of the next four points for a 25-16 win.

The Dolphins scored four of the first six points of the fourth set, but Bentley countered with four straight points to take the lead. Bentley gradually pushed its lead to 18-10 before the Dolphins scored three straight points. The Falcons answered with the last seven points for s 25-13 victory to even the match at two wins each.

The Falcons built an 8-4 lead in the fifth prior to the teams switching sides. After Le Moyne got within 9-7, Bentley countered with four straight points to take a six-point lead and get within two points of victory. The Dolphins answered with six consecutive points to even the set at 13 apiece. After the teams alternated points, resulting in ties at 14 and 15, the Falcons closed out the match with back-to-back kills for a 17-15 win.

Freshman outside hitter Madeleine Kennedy (Chelsea, Mich./Chelsea) led four Dolphins with double-digit kills with 15, including five in each of the second and third sets. Sophomore outside hitter Mary Talty (Clifton Park, N.Y./Shenendehowa) and redshirt senior middle blocker Anna Hafoka (Hurst, Texas/L.D. Bell) each posted 13 kills and three digs, while Hafoka added three blocks and two assists. Senior middle blocker Jacquelyne Ghindia (Mission Viejo, Calif./Santa Margarita) recorded 10 kills, five digs and two assists. Junior setter Emily Yancone (Rochester, N.Y./Our Lady of Mercy) registered her team-best seventh double-double of the year with 48 assists and 10 digs. Freshman outside hitter Lexi Arena (Gilbert, Ariz./Perry), sophomore libero Emily Mosack (Webster, N.Y./Webster-Schroeder) and sophomore defensive specialist Meagan Murphy (Kings Park, N.Y./Kings Park) each recorded 18 digs, while Arena added seven kills and three service aces and Murphy posted three service aces also. Senior defensive specialist Claire Hiwiller (North Tonawanda, N.Y./Sweet Home) tallied 17 digs, including five in the third set and six in the fifth set, and three service aces.

Milner recorded five of her 15 kills in the opening set, while hitting .308 in the match and adding seven digs and five assisted blocks. Rachel Bruno tallied 12 kills, including five in the first set, and seven blocks. Ingrid Murphy registered a double-double of 11 kills and 12 digs. Xio Lopp also posted a double-double with 47 assists and 13 digs, while adding six kills and three blocks. Mallory Burbage just missed a double-double with 12 digs and nine kills to go along with three service aces. Jenna Giaquinto tallied 11 digs over the first three sets, while Emily Barthelmes recorded 10 digs.

Le Moyne (10-9, 3-4 NE10) is back in action on Tuesday at American International College at 7:00 p.m.
