Syracuse, N.Y. – Tyra Anderson scored late in the first half to lead Mercy College to a 2-0 win over the Le Moyne College women's soccer team in non-conference action on Wednesday afternoon at Ted Grant Field.
Mercy registered a 6-5 advantage in shots, while each team put two on target, over the game's first 42 minutes before the Mavericks scored the only goal they would need. Anicia Reyes carried the ball down the right side before sending a pass into the left side of the penalty box. Anderson settled the ball and then slipped a shot into the back of the net from five yards out on the left side of the goal box at the 43:25 mark for her first goal of the season.
The Mavericks tallied seven of the first 10 shots of the second half, including all three on target, before doubling their advantage. Off a corner kick from the right side by Natalia Elizarraras, Juliana Conforti flicked the ball towards the net, where Sydney Cooper finished it off from five yards out on the left side of the goal box at the 82:17 mark for her first tally of the campaign.
The Dolphins were able to get off two shots in the final five minutes, but neither was on target.

Shannon Bennison (Albany, N.Y./Guilderland) registered two saves (against one goal) in the first half to take the loss between the pipes. Melissa Torres tallied a pair of saves in the first half to earn the victory. Mercy recorded a 16-10 advantage in shots, including 9-5 in the second half, while taking all seven of the game's corner kicks.
