WOMEN’S BASKETBALL EARNS 20TH WIN OF THE SEASON, 65-60, OVER PACE

Pleasantville, N.Y. – Graduate student forward Corinne Poitevien (Bardonia, N.Y./Paramus Catholic (N.J.)) scored a career-high 32 points to lead the Le Moyne College women's basketball team to a 65-60 win over Pace University in Northeast-10 Conference action on Wednesday evening at the Goldstein Fitness Center.

Poitevien, who went a program-record 14-of-16 from the field in the contest, registered 19 of her points in the opening half. Her 32 points are tied for the seventh-most in a game in the program's history, while she is the first Dolphin taller than 6-foot to score at least 30 points. She added 12 rebounds, including seven in the first half, for her 10th double-double of the season. Junior guard McKayla Roberts (North Syracuse, N.Y./Cicero-North Syracuse) recorded her fourth double-double of the season with 10 points and a career-high and program record-tying 13 assists. With her sixth point of the game, she moved past fellow C-NS alum Kim Wagoner '08 for 10th on the program's career scoring chart with her 1,133rd point. Junior forward Colleen Corcoran (Beverly, Mass./Bishop Fenwick) tallied season-highs of 10 points and eight rebounds.

Lauren Schetter led Pace in the loss with 21 points, including 12 in the second half, while grabbing five rebounds. Jackie DelliSanti recorded 11 of her 17 points and six of her eight rebounds in the first half. Alexandra Monteleone was the third Setter in double digits with 14 points, including nine in the second half.

The Dolphins, who have won 20 games for just the fourth time in the program's history (20 in 1993-94 and 2001-02, 21 in 1994-95), opened the game with the first seven points over the initial 3:15. Poitevien had a put-back lay-up and finished off a feed from Roberts, who followed with a three-pointer to force a Pace timeout.

Poitevien pushed the team's lead to eight on a pair of occasions before Naya Rivera and DelliSanti made lay-ups around a Le Moyne free throw to get within 15-10 after one quarter of play.

After Poitevien started the scoring in the second quarter, Pace scored nine of the next 13 points to trim its deficit to two with 6:30 left. Monteleone made a three-pointer, DelliSanti hit a jumper and then Schetter had consecutive lay-ups.

Le Moyne answered with eight straight points to take its largest lead of the game, 29-19, with 2:58 to go. Poitevien bookended the run with lay-ups, while Corcoran and Roberts each connected on a shot in the streak.

After DelliSanti and Poitevien traded conventional three-point plays, Schetter recorded one of her own and then made a lay-up to get the Setters within 32-27 at halftime.

Following eight points from each team over the opening six minutes of the third quarter, the Setters scored eight of the next 10 points to take their only lead of the game. Schetter posted a traditional three-point play and Monteleone followed with a jumper to tie the score at 40 with 3:25 left. Le Moyne regained the lead on a Roberts lay-up, but Monteleone made a free throw and Schetter converted a lay-up for a 43-42 lead with 2:00 left in the quarter.

Following a timeout with 1:45 left, the Dolphins scored the last six points of the quarter to take a 48-43 lead after 30 minutes of action. Corcoran gave the Dolphins the lead with a lay-up, fed Poitevien for a lay-up and then converted another lay-up for the five-point lead.

The teams alternated points in the fourth quarter with Le Moyne's lead bouncing between three and six points for a majority of the period. After Pace got within three for the second and final time of the quarter with 54 second left, the Setters had an attempt at a lay-up with five seconds left, but it rimmed out and Roberts was able to seal the game with two free throws with 0.8 seconds left.

Le Moyne (20-4, 14-4 NE10), which is ranked fourth in the first NCAA East Region rankings of the year, concludes its home schedule on Saturday against The College of Saint Rose at 1:00 p.m. Prior to the opening tipoff, Poitevien and seniors Madison Purcell (Clifton Park, N.Y./Catholic Central) and Rachael Miller (Baldwinsville, N.Y./C.W. Baker) will be honored by the Dolphin Athletic Association for their contributions to the program.
