West Haven, Conn. – Micah Wormack made a go-ahead lay-up with 1:19 left as the University of New Haven recorded a 55-50 win over the Le Moyne College women's basketball team in the Northeast-10 Conference regular season finale on Tuesday evening at Charger Gymnasium.
The Dolphins open the Northeast-10 Conference Championships on Sunday at 2:00 p.m. as the top seed from the Southwest Division. The Dolphins will host either Merrimack College, the fourth seed from the Northeast Division, or Southern Connecticut State University, the fifth seed from the Southwest Division. The Warriors host the Owls in a first round matchup on Friday at 7:00 p.m.
Junior guard
McKayla Roberts (North Syracuse, N.Y./Cicero-North Syracuse) led all scorers in the contest with 17 points, including nine in the first half, while adding five assists and three rebounds. Freshman forward
Jenna Zimmerman (Adams, N.Y./South Jefferson) scored 11 of her 13 points in the second half, while grabbing seven rebounds and blocking three shots.
Alexandria Kerr led three Chargers in double digits with 17 points, incuding 11 in the first half. Camryn DeBose tallied 12 second-half points, while Wormack finished the contest with 11 points and four rebounds.

Liz Millea (Cooperstown, N.Y./Cooperstown) hit a jumper, Roberts made her first three-pointer of the contest and then Zimmerman converted a lay-up.
New Haven answered with an 11-2 run to take a four point lead. Kerr made a pair of lay-ups, Wormack connected on two shots and Kim Talley drilled a three-pointer.
Roberts got the Dolphins within 13-12 after one quarter with a three-pointer with 41 seconds left.
After the Dolphins tied the score at 16 with 6:43 left in the second quarter, New Haven scored nine straight points. Kerr scored seven points in the streak, while Katia Oge made a lay-up off a pass from Kerr.
Roberts answered with a three-pointer to get the Dolphins within six, but Oge gave the Chargers a 26-19 lead at halftime with a free throw with 1:03 remaining.
Le Moyne cut its deficit to four less than two and one-half minutes into the third quarter, but DeBose answered with consecutive three-pointers to give New Haven a double-digit lead, 34-24, with 6:12 left.
The Dolphins, specifically freshman guard
Erin Fouracre (Loudonville, N.Y./Colonie Central) scored five straight points to trim their deficit in half with 4:32 to go. After New Haven's lead was five or seven over the next three minutes, Zimmerman drilled a three-pointer to get within 39-36 with 40 seconds left in the quarter.
Wormack scored in the paint with 15 seconds left in the quarter to push New Haven's lead to 41-36 after 30 minutes of play.
Le Moyne scored the first eight points of the fourth quarter to take the lead. Graduate student forward
Corinne Poitevien (Bardonia, N.Y./Paramus Catholic (N.J.)) made a lay-up and then Roberts drilled back-to-back three-pointers for a 44-41 lead with 7:11 to play.
After New Haven scored three points to tie the score at 44, Roberts made a jumper in the paint to give the Dolphins their final lead of the game.
The Chargers responded with seven straight points to take the lead for good. Kerr tied the score with a lay-up and Wormack put her team in front following three scoreless minutes in the game. After the Dolphins missed a potential game-tying shot and a potential go-ahead three-pointer, Talley beat the shot clock with a three-pointer from the right wing.
Zimmerman got the Dolphins back within three, but DeBose answered with two free throws with 15 seconds left. Fouracre countered with a jumper with nine seconds left, but DeBose finished the game's scoring with two free throws with 0.5 seconds left.
