Bethpage, New York-   The Le Moyne College men's tennis team suffered a loss, 5-2, to the New York Institute of Technology on Saturday evening at SPORTIME Bethpage.

In the first match of the night, the team of sophomore Tom Jarry (Paris, France/CNED Toulouse/Emmanuel) and senior Andres Hernandez (Monterrey, Mexico/Laurel Springs/Texas Rio Grande Valley) fell to Francisco Caldas and Diego Espiniella, 6-3.  In the second spot, seniors Xavier Graells (Castellar del Vallès, Spain/IES Castellar/Harford Community College) and Tyler Underwood (Minoa, N.Y./East Syracuse-Minoa) lost 6-2 in a match against Nicolas Castaldo and Yago Granda. A Le Moyne team of freshman Gerardo Wibmer (Maldonado, Uruguay/Apostille School) and sophomore Christian Erickson (Fairport, N.Y./Fairport) were victorious 6-4 against Kevin Huynh and Sergio Fernandez for the sole win in doubles matches for the Dolphins.

The Dolphins took the first match of singles play as Jarry beat Francisco by winning the last two sets 3-6, 6-3, 6-4.  Hernandez fell to Castaldo 1-6, 2-6 and Erickson was beat by Espiniella 6-7, 4-6. In the fourth spot, Graells was edged out by Fernandez after forcing a third set, 4-6, 7-5, 4-6. Graduate student Sven Gopfrich (Erlangen, Germany/Emmy-Noether-Gymnasium Erlangen/Friedrich-Alexander University Erlangen-Nürnberg) was victorious in two sets beating Maxton Cook 6-3, 6-2. In the last match of the day, Wibmer fell 2-6, 1-6 to Huynh.

Le Moyne (4-3) is back on the courts on Friday against the University of the District of Columbia at Elevate Fitness in DeWitt, N.Y. at 6:30 p.m.
