TOP-RANKED WOMEN’S LACROSSE RECORDS 16-8 WIN OVER 15TH-RANKED MERCYHURST

Erie, Pa. – Three Dolphins had three goals each to lead the top-ranked Le Moyne College women's lacrosse team to a 16-8 win over 15th-ranked Mercyhurst University on Wednesday afternoon at Tullio Field.

The Dolphins opened the game's scoring just 62 seconds into the contest as senior attacker Bryanna Fazio (Watertown, N.Y./General Brown) tallied her 12th goal of the season.

The Lakers evened the score at one each with 22:12 left on a free-position goal by Julia Rescott.

Le Moyne answered with four straight goals. Sophomore attacker Erin McMullen (Syracuse, N.Y./Westhill) converted a free-position shot with 21:44 left to give the Dolphins the lead for good. Junior attacker Sidney Hall (Adams Center, N.Y./South Jefferson) followed with a free-position goal with 20:31 to go. She followed 36 seconds later with an unassisted tally. McMullen capped the streak with another free-position goal with 18:59 left in the half.

Rescott scored again with 16:46 remaining off a pass from Lacey Netti.

The Dolphins pushed their lead to 8-2 with the next three goals. Junior attacker Julia Sardella (Liverpool, N.Y./Liverpool/Siena) made it 6-2 with an unassisted goal with 15:44 to go. She scored again 1:28 later off a feed from Fazio. Junior midfielder Nicole Delany (Camillus, N.Y./West Genesee) completed the run with 11:00 remaining off a feed from sophomore midfielder Sydney Meagher (Fairport, N.Y./Fairport).

Mercyhurst scored two of the last three goals of the half to get within 9-4 at the intermission. Angelina Simon scored with 5:58 remaining off a pass from Emma Hubert. Senior midfielder Monica Sanna (Pittsford, N.Y./Pittsford) completed her team's scoring in the half with a free-position goal with 2:50 remaining. Netti closed out the half's scoring with 1:20 left.

Le Moyne scored three times in the opening 3:16 of the second half. Delany opened the half with an unassisted tally with 28:43 left. McMullen followed with unassisted marker 65 seconds later. Fazio netted her second goal of the day with 26:44 remaining.

The Lakers countered with back-to-back goals. Hubert converted a free-position shot with 24:20 left and then Simon scored unassisted with 21:42 remaining.

The Dolphins responded with the next three goals. Delany gave her team a 13-6 lead with 16:41 remaining off a pass from Hall. Fazio followed with 14:30 left after collecting a feed from Meagher. With the goal, Fazio moved within one point of tying Amanda Keegan '07 for the most career points in the program's history with her 241st point. Meagher gave the Dolphins their largest lead of the game with 11:44 to play after taking a pass from Sardella.

As they did in the first half, the Lakers scored two of the last three goals of the second half. Hubert tallied an unassisted goal with 10:22 to play. After Sanna recorded an unassisted tally with 7:15 left to complete Le Moyne's scoring, Hubert finished the game's scoring with 6:12 left off a feed from Jenna Hagen.

Junior goalkeeper Hannah George (Johnson City, N.Y./Maine-Endwell) earned her fourth win of the season after making six saves, including three in each half. Raelyn Tiberio turned away 14 shots, including eight in the second half, in the loss for the Lakers.

Le Moyne (4-0), which has won 14 straight non-conference regular season games, opens Northeast-10 Conference action on Saturday against Stonehill College at home at 12:00 p.m.
