Albany, N.Y. – Stephen Hill tossed a complete game to lead The College of Saint Rose to an 8-1 win over the Le Moyne College baseball team on Wednesday afternoon in Northeast-10 Conference Southwest Division play at Bob Bellizzi Field.
After three scoreless innings to start the game, the Dolphins struck for the first run in the top of the fourth inning. Senior catcher
Camillo Spinoso (Syracuse, N.Y./Christian Brothers Academy/George Washington) drew a walk to start the inning and then stole second base. After a pair of outs, junior third baseman
Nicholas Jacques (Ballston Lake, N.Y./Shenendehowa) reached on a dropped fly ball by the left fielder, which allowed Spinoso to score.
Saint Rose evened the score in the bottom of the fourth. Left fielder Justin Sportman singled to left with two outs and came around to score on a double to center by right fielder Stephan MacMeans.
The Golden Knights used another two-out rally to take the lead in the fifth inning. After shortstop Andrew Pedone and first baseman Nicolas Teitter walked, catcher Jon Montesanti blasted a three-run home run to left center.
Saint Rose tacked on four runs on two hits and a Le Moyne error in the sixth inning. Sportman walked and MacMeans was hit by a pitch to begin the frame. Following a fly out and a wild pitch, second baseman Brian Hill singled down the left field line to drive in Sportman and MacMeans. After designated hitter Patrick LaDouce reached on a throwing error, Pedone lined out to the right fielder to plate Hill. Teitter then doubled to center to knock in LaDouce with the game's final run.
Redshirt senior
Max Tessitore (Averill Park, N.Y./Averill Park) took the loss out of the bullpen after allowing four runs over three innings. Spinoso finished the game with three of Le Moyne's seven hits. Stephen Hill struck out six in his nine-inning performance, while yielding just the unearned run and seven hits.
Le Moyne (7-14, 0-3 NE10, 0-1 SW), which dropped the series opener to the Golden Knights for the fifth time in eight years in the NE10, returns to the diamond on Saturday for a doubleheader at Pace University at 2:30 p.m.
