Brookville, N.Y. – The top-ranked Le Moyne College women's lacrosse team used an 8-1 run to close out the first half en route to a 16-7 victory over sixth-ranked LIU Post on Saturday afternoon at Bethpage Federal Credit Union Stadium.
For the second straight game, the Dolphins fell behind 3-0 as LIU Post found the back of the net three times in the opening 8:46. Trish Brisotti started the scoring with a free-position goal 2:49 into the contest. Brianna Feldman followed 49 seconds later with her eighth tally of the season. After the Dolphins had two shots saved and committed a turnover, Sara Stephens finished off a pass from Feldman with 21:14 remaining for a 3-0 lead, which forced a Le Moyne timeout.
The Dolphins countered with three straight goals to even the score. Junior attacker
Sidney Hall (Adams Center, N.Y./South Jefferson) got the Dolphins on the scoreboard with 17:55 left. Senior midfielder
Monica Sanna (Pittsford, N.Y./Pittsford) then converted a free-position shot with 15:54 to go for her sixth goal of the season. Sophomore midfielder
Sydney Meagher (Fairport, N.Y./Fairport) knotted the score at three with her first goal of the season with 11:58 left.
LIU Post regained the lead with 9:35 left as Paige Sherlock converted a free-position shot for her fifth goal of the season.
Le Moyne answered with five straight goals over the final 5:15 of the half. Junior midfielder

Julia Sardella (Liverpool, N.Y./Liverpool/Siena) gave Le Moyne the lead with her first goal as a Dolphin with 3:30 left after taking a pass from sophomore attacker

Bryanna Fazio (Watertown, N.Y./General Brown) scored three times over the final 2:44 to give the Dolphins an 8-4 lead at halftime. She scored her ninth goal of the season with 2:44 to go, followed with her 10th with 59 seconds remaining and closed out the half with her third of the day with 10 seconds left. With the third goal, she moved into a tie with fellow General Brown alum Whitney Vecchio '08 for second on the program's career points list her 237th, just five behind the record held by Amanda Keegan '07.
LIU Post took advantage of Fazio's second yellow card of the game and subsequent ejection to start the scoring in the second half. Madeline Schaefer converted a free-position shot in the extra-player situation with 28:04 left to get the Pioneers within 8-5.
The Dolphins countered with consecutive goals. Sanna pushed Le Moyne's lead back to four with her seventh goal of the season with 24:01 to go. Delany followed with another free-position goal with 17:19 remaining.
Alyssa Mallery followed with a free-position goal of her own with 16:12 left for her 16th tally of the year to get the Pioneers within 10-6, but the Dolphins responded with three consecutive goals over 2:34. Hall started the spurt at the 14:23 mark with her seventh goal of the campaign. She then tallied a free-position goal with 13:06 for a 12-6 Le Moyne lead. Sardella then netted her second goal of the contest with 11:49 to play.
Mallery netted the final goal of the game for the Pioneers with a free-position tally with 11:16 to play.
The Dolphins closed out the game with the final three goals. McMullen gave her team a 14-7 lead with her fourth goal of the year with 9:03 to play. Delany then tallied her ninth goal of the campaign with 5:42 remaining. Hall completed the game's scoring with her ninth tally of the season with 4:35 left.

Hannah George (Johnson City, N.Y./Maine-Endwell) registered 10 saves, including seven in the second half, to earn the victory between the pipes. Hailey Duchnowski tallied 15 saves, including 10 after halftime, in the loss.
Le Moyne (3-0) returns to action on Wednesday at its fourth straight ranked opponent, Mercyhurst University, at 4:00 p.m.
