MEN’S TENNIS WINS THIRD STRAIGHT, 7-0, OVER FRANKLIN PIERCE

DeWitt, N.Y. – The Le Moyne College men's tennis team remained unbeaten in Northeast-10 Conference play with a 7-0 win over Franklin Pierce University on Wednesday afternoon at Elevate Fitness.

The Dolphins opened the match by sweeping the doubles competition. At the top position, sophomore Tom Jarry (Paris, France/CNED Toulouse/Emmanuel) and junior Philip Blythe (Edinburgh, Scotland/Merchiston) recorded a 7-5 win over Roberto Chong and Nkrumah Patrick. Senior Xavier Graells (Castellar del Vallès, Spain/IES Castellar/Harford Community College) and Tyler Underwood (Minoa, N.Y./East Syracuse-Minoa) defeated Andrew Schadt and James Bisazza at the second spot, 6-4. Senior Andres Hernandez (Monterrey, Mexico/Laurel Springs/Texas Rio Grande Valley) and Gerardo Wibmer (Maldonado, Uruguay/Apostille School) won 6-3 at the third position over Yuval Barak and Marcus Lawrence.
 
Le Moyne swept the singles competition for the seventh time this season. Graells earned the first point by defeating Barak at the fifth spot, 6-2, 7-6 (7-3). Blythe won in straight sets over Chong at the second position, 6-2, 6-4. After dropping the first set, 6-3, Hernandez topped Patrick in the next two sets, 6-3, 6-2, at the third spot to clinch the match. At the first spot, Jarry rallied for a 2-6, 6-2, 6-2 victory over Bisazza to improve to 9-2 on the season. Graduate student Sven Gopfrich (Erlangen, Germany/Emmy-Noether-Gymnasium Erlangen/Friedrich-Alexander University Erlangen-Nürnberg) was a 6-2, 6-2 winner at the sixth spot over Lawrence. Sophomore Christian Erickson (Fairport, N.Y./Fairport) closed out the match with a 6-4, 7-6 (7-2) win at the fourth position over Schadt.
 
Le Moyne (8-4, 3-0 NE10) returns to the courts on Saturday at Bentley University at 2:00 p.m.
