MEN’S TENNIS RECORDS 7-0 WIN OVER ASSUMPTION

DeWitt, N.Y. – The Le Moyne College men's tennis team registered its eighth sweep of singles play of the year en route to a 7-0 win over Assumption College on Tuesday afternoon in Northeast-10 Conference action at Elevate Fitness.

The Dolphins won all three matches in the doubles competition to take a 1-0 lead. At the first position, sophomore Tom Jarry (Paris, France/CNED Toulouse/Emmanuel) and junior Philip Blythe (Edinburgh, Scotland/Merchiston) won their fifth straight match, 6-3, over Max Francis and Reb Mariano. In their first match as a team, sophomore Christian Erickson (Fairport, N.Y./Fairport) and senior Tyler Underwood (Minoa, N.Y./East Syracuse-Minoa) blanked Brandon Sze and Jameson Keppeler at the second position, 6-0. Freshman Gerardo Wibmer (Maldonado, Uruguay/Apostille School) and senior Andres Hernandez (Monterrey, Mexico/Laurel Springs/Texas Rio Grande Valley) improved to 8-4 with a 6-1 win at the third spot over Jacob Lawrence and Michael Butkus.
 
The Dolphins improved to 27-3 in conference action by sweeping the singles competition. At the top spot, Jarry won his eighth straight match, 6-0, 6-2, over Francis. Blythe recorded a 6-1, 6-2 win over Mariano at the second position for his 11th win of the season. Senior Xavier Graells (Castellar del Vallès, Spain/IES Castellar/Harford Community College) won the closest match of the day, 7-5, 2-6, 6-4, over Sze at the third spot. Graduate student Sven Gopfrich (Erlangen, Germany/Emmy-Noether-Gymnasium Erlangen/Friedrich-Alexander University Erlangen-Nürnberg) was a 6-2, 6-0 winner at the fourth position against Lawrence. Wibmer earned his second win of the season, 6-4, 6-2, over Keppeler at the fifth spot. Underwood was victorious in his first dual match of the year, 8-1, at the sixth position over Luke Whitehouse.
 
Le Moyne (9-5, 4-1 NE10) concludes its road non-conference schedule on Wednesday at St. Thomas Aquinas College at 3:00 p.m.
