TOP-RANKED WOMEN’S LACROSSE ADVANCES TO NE10 SEMIFINALS WITH 14-4 WIN OVER STONEHILL

Syracuse, N.Y. – Senior attacker Bryanna Fazio (Watertown, N.Y./General Brown) recorded five points to lead the top-ranked and top-seeded Le Moyne College women's lacrosse team to a 14-4 win over eighth-seeded Stonehill College in the quarterfinals of the Northeast-10 Conference Championships on Wednesday afternoon at Ted Grant Field.

With the victory, the Dolphins will host the NE10 Championships semifinals and final on Saturday and Sunday. The Dolphins will take on fifth-seeded Assumption College, a 10-9 winner over fourth-seeded Bentley University, at 11:00 a.m. in the first semifinal of the day. The second semifinal, which will start at 2:00 p.m., will feature sixth-seeded University of New Haven (a 13-12 overtime winner over third-seeded Pace University) and seventh-seeded Merrimack College (a 16-14 winner over second-seeded Adelphi University).

Stonehill, which made its NE10-record 20th appearance in the conference championship, scored the first two goals of the game. Kaity Healey started the scoring at the 28:11 mark with her 33rd goal of the season. Just over five minutes later, she doubled her team's lead.

After being held scoreless for almost nine minutes to open the game, the Dolphins rattled off five straight goals. In transition, junior midfielder Nicole Delany (Camillus, N.Y./West Genesee) finished off a pass from sophomore midfielder Lauren Ferris (Syracuse, N.Y./West Genesee) at the 21:04 mark for her 46th goal of the year. Delany converted a free-position shot with 17:12 remaining in the half to even the score at two apiece. She tallied her third goal in a row with 13:59 left to put the Dolphins in front after taking a pass in a player-down situation from sophomore attacker Brittney Pollack (Fairport, N.Y./Fairport). Just 39 seconds later, Fazio netted her 57th goal of the year. Fazio scored again in an extra-player situation with 4:13 left for a 5-3 lead.

Shannon Hughes ended Le Moyne's run with her 38th goal of the season with 3:22 remaining in the half.

Following a save by junior goalkeeper Hannah George (Johnson City, N.Y./Maine-Endwell) on a free-position shot with 24 seconds left, the Dolphins cleared the ball. Off a loose ball in front of the cage, freshman attacker Jessica Meneilly (Cicero, N.Y./Cicero-North Syracuse) flipped a shot into the back of the net with 0.3 seconds left for her 12th tally of the year to give the Dolphins a 6-3 lead at the intermission.

Le Moyne scored the first seven goals of the second half to put the game out of reach. Junior attacker Sidney Hall (Adams Center, N.Y./South Jefferson) started the run with a free-position goal with 24:24 left in the game. The goal snapped a span of seven straight halves (3.5 games) without a goal for Hall, who scored in each of the first 14 games of the season. Sophomore attacker Erin McMullen (Syracuse, N.Y./Westhill) put the Dolphins up 8-3 with 23:35 to play. McMullen netted her 44th goal of the year with 18:30 to go after collecting a pass from Fazio (her 90th career assist) to force a Stonehill timeout. Following over seven minutes of scoreless action, Fazio found the back of the net after receiving a pass from freshman attacker Molly Hall (Adams Center, N.Y./South Jefferson). Senior defender/midfielder Madison Pritchard (Syracuse, N.Y./West Genesee/Onondaga C.C./Canisius) scored on her first shot of the season with 10:03 left off a pass from sophomore midfielder Sydney Meagher (Fairport, N.Y./Fairport). Fazio collected her 60th goal of the season with 8:41 remaining. With the goal, Fazio became the second player in the program's history to score 60 goals in multiple seasons (joining Brittany Brigandi '12 in 2011 and 2012). She's also the third player to record multiple 85-point seasons (both Erica Geremia '16 and Maggie Monnat '16 in 2015 and 2016). Meneilly gave the Dolphins a double-digit lead with an extra-player goal with 5:43 to play.

Healey got the Skyhawks back within single digits with her 35th goal of the season with 3:04 left.

Pritchard scored again with 2:26 left off a pass from junior attacker Claire Herrmann (Hamburg, N.Y./Hamburg) to finish off the game's scoring.

George finished the game with six saves, including four in the first half, to earn her 25th straight victory. The Dolphin defense held the Skyhawks to just five shots in the second half, while forcing 13 turnovers. Bailey Grant tallied 16 saves, including nine in the first half, in the loss.
