Syracuse, N.Y. – Sophomore midfielder
Sydney Meagher (Fairport, N.Y./Fairport) registered a career-high five points to lead the top-ranked and top-seeded Le Moyne College women's lacrosse team to a 17-7 win over 11th-ranked and fourth-seeded Mercy College in the first round of the NCAA Championships on Friday at Ted Grant Field.
The Dolphins advance to the NCAA Championships quarterfinals on Sunday at 12:00 p.m. and will take on fourth-ranked and third-seeded Adelphi University, a 16-3 winner over ninth-ranked and second-seeded LIU Post on Friday.
The Dolphins opened the game's scoring with the first three goals. Sophomore attacker
Erin McMullen (Syracuse, N.Y./Westhill) tallied the first goal at the 26:51 mark off a free-position shot. With the goal, McMullen became the 21st player in the program's history to scored 100 career goals. Senior attacker
Bryanna Fazio (Watertown, N.Y./General Brown) followed at the 22:08 mark with her 64th goal of the season. Less than two minutes later, Fazio scored again after taking a pass from Meagher. With the goal, Fazio moved past Amanda Keegan '07 for the fifth-most points in a season by a Dolphin with her 91st.
Mercy answered with back-to-back goals to get within one. Briana Corace netted the first goal off a free-position shot with 19:24 left. Katherine Sanchez made it 3-2 with her 58th goal of the season with 16:04 remaining.
Le Moyne countered with back-to-back goals to regain its three-goal lead. Meagher tallied her 10th goal of the season with 14:15 to go. Just over four minutes later, freshman attacker
Jessica Meneilly (Cicero, N.Y./Cicero-North Syracuse) found the back of the net.
The Mavericks closed within two for the final time with 7:39 remaining as Hunter Isnardi finished off a pass from Mary Mackie.

Brittney Pollack (Fairport, N.Y./Fairport) tallied her seventh goal of the season with 6:39 to go. Meneilly followed at the 3:44 mark by finishing off a feed from Fazio. Junior midfielder
Nicole Delany (Camillus, N.Y./West Genesee) made it 8-3 with 1:58 remaining after collecting a pass from Pollack, who completed the half's scoring 62 seconds later after taking a pass from junior attacker

Isnardi opened the scoring in the second half at the 28:14 mark off a pass from Mackie.
Pollack answered back with 25:19 left off a pass in an extra-player situation from Meagher.
Kaitlyn Grzelaczyk got the Mavericks within 10-5 with 23:51 remaining off a free-position shot.
Following seven and one-half minutes of scoreless play, the Dolphins rattled off five straight goals. Meagher started the run at the 16:22 mark after collecting a pass from Fazio, who passed fellow General Brown alum Whitney Vecchio '08 for the third-most assists in the program's history with her 93rd. McMullen then scored with 14:39 to go off a pass from Delany. Hall followed 76 seconds later with her 39th tally of the season. With the goal, Hall ties Brittany Brigandi '12 for the sixth-most points in the program's history with her 217th. Meagher made it 14-5 with 10:33 left off a free-position shot. Just 57 seconds later, Delany gave the Dolphins their first double-digit lead of the contest off a free-position shot.
Mercy answered with a pair of goals in a span of 54 seconds. Isnardi registered her 99th goal of the season with 7:49 left, while she found Juliana Keenan for a goal with 6:55 to play.
Le Moyne scored the final two goals of the game. Delany recorded her 55th goal of the campaign with 5:56 remaining. Meneilly finished off the game's scoring with 1:20 to play after taking a pass from Delany.
Junior goalkeeper
Hannah George (Johnson City, N.Y./Maine-Endwell) earned her 20th win of the season after making 11 saves, including six in the first half. Emma Jacobson made six saves in the loss.
