Syracuse, N.Y. – Jocylyn Deome scored less than a minute into the game to lead American International College to a 1-0 victory over the Le Moyne College women's soccer team in Northeast-10 Conference action on Wednesday afternoon at Ted Grant Field.
After collecting a loose ball on the left side of the field, Josefine Stendahl chipped a pass into the top of the penalty box. Deome got to the ball and chipped a shot over the charging goalkeeper just 55 seconds into the game for her first goal of the season.
The Dolphins outshot the Yellow Jackets, 4-2, over the remainder of the half, but none of their shots were on target, while both by the Yellow Jackets had to be saved.
American International registered a 7-4 advantage in shots in the second half, including 4-0 in shots on goal, but was not able to add to its lead.
Senior goalkeeper
Shannon Bennison (Albany, N.Y./Guilderland) was saddled with the loss despite making six saves. Tamra Zippin collected the win for the Yellow Jackets after playing the first 42:42 between the pipes. American International posted a 10-8 edge in shots, while posting a 5-4 edge in corner kicks.
Le Moyne (1-5, 0-3 NE10), which has not scored in over 400 minutes of action, visits Saint Anselm College on Saturday at 12:00 p.m.
