Garden City, N.Y. – Sara Mandreja landed 10 kills to lead Adelphi University to a 3-0 win over the Le Moyne College volleyball team in Northeast-10 Conference action on Saturday afternoon at the Center for Recreation and Sport.
Adelphi opened the match with a 25-19 win in the first set after using a 7-2 run early in the set to take control. The Panthers doubled their lead in the match with a 25-17 victory in the second set after scoring six straight points and nine of the last 11 following a 7-0 spurt by the Dolphins. Adelphi closed out the match by edging the Dolphins in the third set, 26-24, after scoring four of the last five points after the Dolphins took a 23-22 lead.

Mary Talty (Clifton Park, N.Y./Shenendehowa) led the Dolphins offensively with nine kills. Redshirt senior middle blocker
Anna Hafoka (Hurst, Texas/L.D. Bell) hit .412 en route to recording eight kills, while adding four blocks. Junior setter
Emily Yancone (Rochester, N.Y./Our Lady of Mercy) dished out 21 assists and posted eight digs. Sophomore outside hitter
Kendyl Gorick (Windsor, N.Y./Windsor) led the Dolphins defensively with a career-high nine digs.
Mandreja registered seven digs and four blocks to go along with her match-high 10 kills. Cara McKenzie hit .316 on her way to nine kills, while posting four block assists. Brenna Valsted directed the offense with 33 assists, while adding seven kills, five digs and three service aces. Katarina Warburton led the team on the defensive end with nine digs.
Le Moyne (6-6, 0-1 NE10) opens its home schedule on Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. against Assumption College.
