Syracuse, N.Y. – The Le Moyne College women's and men's swimming and diving teams were victorious in their return to Rev. Vincent B. Ryan, S.J. Pool on Tuesday afternoon with a sweep of Alfred University. The women registered a 169-104 victory, while the men topped the Saxons, 172-128.
The quartet of freshman
Genevieve Kikukawa (Kalaupapa, Hawaii/University Laboratory School), sophomore
Mikael Ann Melfi (Clayton, N.Y./Thousand Islands), junior
Haley Synan (Belchertown, Mass./Belchertown) and sophomore
Jordyn Sommo (Guilderland, N.Y./Guilderland) won the 200-yard medley relay in 1:56.16.
Synan won the first individual event of the afternoon, the 1000-yard freestyle, by over 18 seconds with a time of 11:10.40.
Senior
Karen Silaika (Rexford, N.Y./Shenendehowa) claimed the 200-yard freestyle by almost nine seconds with a time of 2:04.61. She topped the field in the 500-yard freestyle by over 10 seconds with a time of 5:37.92.
Melfi was victorious in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:12.44 to with by over three seconds. She completed the sweep of the breaststroke events by winning the 200-yard by one second with a time of 2:42.47.
Junior
Elizabeth Morgan (Ballston Lake, N.Y./Shaker) collected the victory in the 200-yard butterfly by over 12 seconds with a time of 2:23.45.
Senior
Haley Decker (Vernon, N.Y./Vernon-Verona-Sherrill) won the 50-yard freestyle by 1.44 seconds with a time of 26.03 seconds. She picked up the victory in the 100-yard butterfly by almost three seconds with a time of 1:01.00.
Freshman
Annamarie Goosley (Harpursville, N.Y./Harpursville) won the first one-meter diving event with 118.40 points.
Sommo captured the 100-yard freestyle by half a second by posting a time of 57.51 seconds.

Matthew Walton (Queensbury, N.Y./Queensbury) and
Michael Dierolf (Pennsburg, Pa./Quakertown), sophomore
Brandon Bardin (Burnt Hills, N.Y./Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake) and freshman
Charles Morris (East Aurora, N.Y./East Aurora) were victorious in the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:39.82.
Junior
Austin Richardson (Oswego, N.Y./Oswego) captured the first individual event of the day, the 1000-yard freestyle, by five seconds by touching the wall in 10:31.51. He completed the sweep of the distance events with a time of 5:03.40 to win the 500-yard freestyle by over one and one-half seconds.
Walton topped the field in the 200-yard freestyle by over three seconds with a time of 1:49.34. He closed out the individual portion of the meet by winning the 200-yard IM by 0.13 seconds with a time of 2:03.88.
Dierolf swept the two breaststroke events. He claimed the 100-yard with a time of 1:00.28 to win by over four seconds and won the 200-yard by over nine and one-half seconds with a time of 2:14.40.
Bardin tallied a first-place finish in the 200-yard butterfly by over three seconds with a time of 2:05.30. He completed the sweep of the butterfly events by winning the 100-yard by 0.07 seconds by touching the wall in 55.02 seconds.
Morris recorded a time of 21.69 seconds to win the 50-yard freestyle by 1.4 seconds. He later won the 100-yard freestyle by over two seconds with a time of 48.65 seconds.

Alex Turczyn (Burnt Hills, N.Y./Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake) won the final event of the afternoon, the 200-yard freestyle relay, in 1:30.35.
